BREAKING: 7th Street Baptist Church on fire in Nederland.
Chief Carroll says the fire appeared to start in the attic and it wasn't lightning at the time. No one was in the church and there are no injuries.

Police are blocking the streets.

KFDM Chief Meteorologist Greg Bostwick says there was a lot of lightning in the area at the time the fire broke out around 7 a.m.

Don't use power strips.

Power strips are not made for space heaters and should never be used with them because space heaters draw too much electricity, causing power strips to overheat, melt, and potentially start a fire. Fire safety experts strongly advise plugging space heaters directly into a wall outlet for safe operation.

The Salvation Army in Orange is opening a cold weather warming shelter for our community ahead of the winter storm, in partnership with the Red Cross.

The warming shelter is located at The Salvation Army main building.
1950 MLK Drive, Orange, TX.

The shelter will open Saturday at 8:00 PM.
The shelter will close Tuesday at 10:00 AM.

This effort is part of a coordinated response across Texas to help keep neighbors safe during extreme cold.
