God’s Gift
Learning to Recognize, Use, and Walk in the Gifts God Has Given Us

As women of God, it is easy to become overwhelmed by life’s responsibilities, disappointments, heartbreaks, and uncertainties.

Many times, we spend so much time pouring into everyone else that we forget God has already placed something powerful inside of us. The truth is: we are gifts from God, and He has also placed gifts within us for His glory.

God never creates anything without purpose. Every trial, every season, and every victory can become part of His plan to shape us into women who walk boldly in purpose. Even in painful seasons, God is still healing, restoring, teaching, and preparing us for what He has called us to do.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

Sometimes life can make us feel overlooked, broken, insecure, or unworthy. We may compare ourselves to others or allow disappointment and shame to silence us. But God never called us to live beneath who He created us to be. He calls us chosen, loved, and wonderfully made.

There were seasons where I questioned my own worth and wondered if God could still use me after disappointment and shame that I carried during that season. But God reminded me that broken places are often where His light shines the brightest. Being broken does not mean we are loved any less by God. In many ways, it is during those moments that He leans in even closer to us. He meets us with grace, restores what pain tried to destroy, and reminds us that our brokenness does not disqualify us from being used by Him.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

God can use every part of our story for His glory. The very places where we once struggled may become the places where we encourage, pray for, and help others heal. When we lean into God, trust Him fully, and stay connected to Him through prayer and His Word, the gifts He placed inside of us begin to grow.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

No matter what season you are in, remember this:
You are not forgotten.
You are not overlooked.
You are loved by God.
And He still has purpose for your life.

Let’s REFLECT:

What gifts or strengths has God placed inside of you that He may be calling you to use in this season of your life?

Think about that for a minute and Now let’s Pray…

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for creating us with purpose and love. Thank You for every gift You have placed inside of us. Help us to lean into You more daily so we may grow stronger in faith, wisdom, and understanding. Heal every wound, remove every fear, and remind us that we are chosen by You. Teach us how to operate boldly in our God-given gifts so that others may see Your light through us.Help us trust You even in broken seasons and remind us that our pain does not disqualify us from purpose. Let our lives glorify You in all we do.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity
under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1

I am so thankful that God has been consistent in EVERY season of life. Have you ever listened to a song that you sang in your early years of walking with Jesus and it brings back all of the thoughts, emotions and feelings you had back then? It brings me so much gratitude that the same Jesus that walked with me as a teenage girl is the same Jesus that is getting me through motherhood and marriage. God is so faithful in every season. This also brings great peace, knowing that God is the author of every season that we walk through and that He is the same yesterday, today and forever!

What season are you in? Can you recognize what that looks like for you currently? Our spiritual walk can parallel the seasons we experience in the natural like Fall, Winter and Spring. Fall can represent a season of pruning and letting go of things that no longer
serve its purpose in your current season. This may feel like an uncomfortable season that may even bring pain but is very necessary to get you from where you were to where you are going! Winter can feel like you are walking through a dark cold night. Maybe
you feel isolated and alone and have found yourself asking the question, “God what are you doing?”

Nevertheless, He is with you and has not forsaken you. Spring is a beautiful and exciting time full of new growth. Dead things are being brought to life and new opportunities are blooming! Aren’t you thankful we serve a God of seasons? He is the same in the valley as he is on the mountaintop. We wouldn't be able to appreciate the springtime if we hadn't endured the hardships of winter. Recognize what season you are currently in and remember that seasons change and will not last forever. God is with you, no matter what season you are navigating!

Anticipation

Have you ever anticipated the arrival of a friend? Perhaps someone you love dearly that has moved away? I’m guessing your preparations are much like mine. You clean and tidy up the house, prepare a snack or two to share and maybe even a gift to surprise your friend with.

Several years ago I was so excited for the opportunity to visit with a close friend who had moved away. As a surprise, I made us “friend shirts” for the occasion. My shirt had her face on it and her shirt had my face on it. That memory came to mind recently as I read my favorite parable in Luke.

“Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them.” Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭35‬-‭37‬ ‭

This parable has become the example that I want to live my life by.
My Best Friend of all times is returning soon. I’m not quite sure when, but I know on the inside that His return is near.
I keep my house tidied up through the act of daily repentance and I keep fresh bread on the table through the reading of His Word.
I have my lamp burning and full of oil thanks to time spent with Him.
And with the help of the Holy Spirit, I look more and more like Him every day as He continues to conform me into the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29) which is even better than matching shirts.

Instead of just sitting at the table, I like to think of myself as standing right inside the door, brushing back the curtain and peering through the window. My face pressed against the glass in barely contained anticipation of my Friend’s arrival. All the while having my hand on the k**b ready to jerk the door open at the slightest sound of His knock.

Jesus is always the One who is knocking.

“I slept, but my heart was awake. A sound! My beloved is knocking…” Song of Solomon‬ ‭5‬:‭2‬ ‭

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭

Once the Door is shut, much like the door of Noah’s Ark, no amount of knocking on our part could ever open it again.
We have to respond while He is still standing at the door of our heart and knocking.

“Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.” Luke‬ ‭13‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭

I encourage you, make your preparations. Live in anticipation of His return and in the meantime, go find others. Disciple them in the ways of Christ by sharing the Truth in Love. (Eph. 4:15-16)

Let Him return to find us awake, ready and surrounded by fellow servants that we have brought to the knowledge of Him. This is a gift we can offer our soon returning King.
Do not hide the “mina” He gave you, which is the Gospel message. Spread it, multiply it, steward it well (Luke 19:11-27) so that upon His return, the occasion is a sweet time of celebration.
Friends, face to face, reunited again.

Motherhood comes in many forms—biological mothers, adoptive mothers, spiritual mothers, mentors, grandmothers & women who nurture others with love & care. This weekend, we pause to honor the strength it takes to pour into others day after day.

The woman described in Proverbs 31 isn’t perfect—she’s faithful. She shows up. She trusts God in uncertainty. She carries burdens quietly & celebrates victories humbly. Her strength doesn’t come from having all the answers, but from knowing where to turn when she doesn’t.

Some days feel full of joy & purpose. Other days feel exhausting & unseen. But God sees every sacrifice, every prayer whispered late at night, every act of love that no one else notices.

You may not always feel strong—but through Him, you are clothed in strength.

I am thankful for the gift of mothers & the women who pour love into others. Strengthen weary hearts, renew joy where it has faded & remind each woman today of her incredible worth. Lord, let her feel Your presence in both the loud & quiet moments. Wrap her in peace, fill her with grace & bless her abundantly. Amen.

You’ve Got to Serve Somebody!

Lisa Townsend

I was jolted awake in the early dawn this morning, hearing these words trumpeting from my spirit. The Spirit of God is calling us to the carpet to make a decision. It’s an all or nothing scenario. We must have a heart transplant. Our hearts are empty; looking for meaning, and love in all the wrong places. Violence, rage, and murder is seeking to wipe out our children. We must have a great awakening of the heart of our homes. We must have a Holy Ghost Awakening in this nation. We must have families that prioritize worship in truth and spirit. We must have families awakened to their God given purpose. We must have families that nurture and care deeply for each other’s souls.

Bob Dylan sang it. Judy Collins wrote it. Now the Spirit of God is asking and calling us to attention. We must serve someone. The demon possessed man of the Gadarenes learned the hard way. He served satan, ended up in chains, an outcast, and was liberated by the only one strong and pure enough to battle a legion of demons and win; Jesus Christ. We must cease serving demons and serve the one true God!

Church attendance is not the litmus test of a heart. Even that is lacking sorely from the dramatic drop of church attendance when I was a child in the ‘1960s. In those days everyone went to church in my childhood small Mississippi town. At least, the majority of Americans went to church and heard scripture in that decade. This week we have had that Ezra moment of hearing scripture read from cover to cover in our nation’s capital by 500 national faith leaders. Yet, what is being read in our living rooms and bedrooms? That is what shapes hearts, families, governments, and the destiny of children.

Passion for Jesus is the litmus test. What do we burn for? Who are we when we think noone is watching? The condition of America’s heart is on life support because her families have burned after idols. How did we get here? By thinking we know more about how to run our lives than the God who lovingly fashioned us for Himself. It is as if we have stiffened our necks with pride, almost beyond saving. Humility is the way forward. Not judgement or fingerpointing, except at our own selves. God search our hearts and bring us to repentance. Repentance is change. Complete, about face, radical change.

We need wholesale repentance, crying out to God for mercy, and a great awakening in our hearts, homes, and each institution. Good enough won’t do, when better is obtainable. Life is here for the asking. His name is Jesus! He is LIFE and life abundantly.

Today make your salvation sure. Allow your heart to be restaked for the glory of God. Ask your family members how they are with Jesus. Is their pathway to life abundantly set through the name and blood of Jesus Christ? Asking Jesus to bring us into His fold is the only way to heaven. Is your household and your friend group actively pursuing the Lord in their daily lives? We must serve the King of Kings. Everything else is cow fodder compared to the glorious privilege of knowing and pursuing the only ONE who gave His life up that we may be whole.

Our nation needs this heart healing power now. We must have awakening, revival, and reformation, rather than anarchy in the streets and lawlessness. We must begin at home.

Get your family up, whether you are a single parent home, a single, or married with children. Let’s throw off spiritual irresponsibility, apathy, and return to the heart of the Lord, for He will listen, He will save, and perhaps it’s not too late to turn around this nation with a flood of grace. God give us a Great Awakening!

Cry aloud for mercy! Ask for salvation! We must serve someone. We are not worthy or capable of being the Lord of our lives. Only Jesus, Lord of Creation, is Worthy!

Joshua 24:15
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

When Good People Hurt

Have you ever found yourself in a season that left you confused, hurting, and wondering where God is? I believe we all have felt tightly wound in the threads of disappointment.

The Holy Spirit brought Job and hope to my attention recently. If you are like me, you might feel an internal shudder when the Holy Spirit says, “Let’s look at Job.” Your mind races and you wonder, “Dear Lord, are you preparing me for something terrible!?”

Let’s take a breath. What I bring today is hope.

Something that surprises many people about the book of Job is that the word “hope” is used more often in Job than in any other book of the Bible, at least using the New Living Translation. Most of us see it as a hopeless account rather than a hopeful one.

When we meet Job, life is full and blessed. He is wealthy and surrounded by family and friends. Scripture describes Job as blameless—a man of complete integrity. He is doing everything right.

And then the testing comes.

Job’s suffering confuses and disorients him. He begins to question what he thought he understood about God and life. Those feelings sound familiar, don’t they? I urge you to take the time to read Job’s story again. In it, we find three biblical certainties about difficulties we might miss if we wait till calamity hits before we adopt for ourselves these hope-filled truths:

★It’s not just you. Testing comes to us all — even those who seem blameless and full of integrity. You may have asked yourself, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” Job asked the same question. His testing was part of a larger spiritual battle he couldn’t see or understand.

Our hard seasons are not a sign that God has abandoned us.

★Our honest lament is part of the healing process. Job questioned God. He sought answers he ultimately didn’t receive. Many of our why questions are unanswerable. Honest lament is a time to get real with your Savior. He will meet you there. God can handle our tears, our confusion, and even our questions.

★Our tests open the door to knowing God intimately. By chapter 42, Job expresses a profound revelation:

“I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.” — Job 42:5 (NLT)

Job moved from knowing about God to truly knowing God. God never allows pain without an eternal purpose. Just like Job, we might not know why, but we know and trust Who has the answers. James 1:2-3 tells us that testing our faith produces perseverance. We become more resilient, emerge stronger, and experience spiritual growth. As Pastor Christoper says, “You have already survived your worst day.” You didn’t think you would, but here you are, stronger and wiser.

Because our Redeemer lives, we can face tomorrow (Job 19:25). Even through tears, we can proclaim, “It is well with my soul.”

You may be in the middle of the biggest test of your life right now. Maybe your heart is shattered, and your way forward is blurry. When your feet feel heavy and the ground feels like shifting sand, remember what Job’s story can teach us and step up on the Rock. Jesus is your firm foundation.

“I Am So Thirsty”
By: LeNetta Brown

"But whoever drinks of the water that I will give - will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give - will become a spring of water in them - welling up to eternal life." — John 4:14

In our physical world, dehydration is a silent thief; it begins when the body loses more fluid than it takes in, often triggered by heat, overexertion, or simply neglecting the source of life. Basically, when our output exceeds our intake, leading to a state where our bodies can no longer regulate themselves.

Physically, it leads to exhaustion and a racing heart; mentally, it clouds our judgment with "brain fog" that leads to poor decisions & thoughts; and emotionally, it leaves us irritable, anxious, and drained. This hollowed-out feeling is a perfect mirror for our spiritual lives—when we try to run on the fumes of our own strength or the distractions of the world, families or maybe our careers; our souls become parched, brittle, and weary.

But just as a cool glass of water restores the body’s rhythm, we find our ultimate restoration in the promise that Jesus is the Living Water. It reminds us of the source that restores our soul. When we draw from Him, we aren't just treating a symptom; we are filling the deep, structural thirst of our souls with a grace that never runs dry, ensuring we never have to walk through a wilderness of spiritual dehydration again. Jesus stands at the center of our dehydration and offers Himself as the ultimate resolution exemplified on the Cross.

"But whoever drinks of the water that I will give - will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give - will become a spring of water in them - welling up to eternal life." — John 4:14

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this moment of reflection and for the reminder that we were never meant to carry our burdens in our own strength. We confess that we often wander into dry places, allowing the heat of life to dehydrate our spirits until we are weary, anxious, and faint. We thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus—our Living Water—who meets us in our thirst and overflows within us. Refresh our bodies, clear our minds, and settle our hearts. Let Your grace well up within us like an eternal spring, so that as we go out into the world, we may be a source of refreshment to others. In the name of Jesus, the thirst-quencher and sustainer of our souls, Amen."
