We had our Singing last night. We all enjoyed it. And the food was very good, of course. Prayer requests: Buddy and Sis; Diane’s niece Jenna who is 40 and has been diagnosed with a brain tumor; Tony’s niece Ashley has been placed on hospice. Today’s message: It’s About Building Something New
After the trouble in Selma, Alabama there were meetings and discussions centered around the question: What is it going to take for us to get along? The problem of building community is not unique to Selma or any other city. It was also a problem in the New Testament church. The question is the same: How can we all get along? The problem Paul faced was between Jews and Gentiles. Different groups but the identical problem. How do we all get along? Paul was dealing with this conflict between Jews and Gentiles. But now, by the blood of Jesus Christ, they were called to live under the same roof. They were brought into family. They had all now become part of the household of faith. But becoming part of the household didn’t change their history or their background: it didn’t change where they came from. They were still who they were. Galatians 2, Peter had been spending time with some Gentiles he had converted to become Christians. Some of Peter’s crowd showed up and pressured him into backing away from the Gentiles. They told Peter and Peter’s followers that “we might have to spend time with them in heaven but we don’t have to hang around with them down here.” “To live above with saints we love , that will be glory. But to live below with saints we know, that’s a different story.” Paul says, “ God has redeemed you in order to create something new.” Ephesians 2 says, “to create one new man”. It’s sort of like when a man and woman get married, God says “And the two shall become one.” He says, “I’m not trying to make you get along being different. I’m trying to creat something that has never existed before.” One new man. The division runs too deep and has been going on for too long for anybody to think they can go back and fix it. You can’t. The wounds are there, the scars are there, the memories are there and they’re not going away. When you and I were saved, God placed us spiritually in a new environment. It’s a whole new realm and frame of reference. Read Ephesians 4:22. Paul is talking about communal relationships, not just individual Christian living. In this new environment God has moved us into, we have to change clothes. When you take a shower, you don’t put on the same clothes you had on before the shower. You don’t want to be clean on the inside and dirty on the outside, that cancels the purpose of being cleansed. When you and I came to Jesus Christ, we were bathed in the blood. We were cleansed from all our sins. What many do is, after having been washed clean in the blood of Jesus, they put on old clothes. Paul says take off your old clothes; they don’t fit with your new cleansing. Don’t go back to the world view you had before Christ. In verse 23 Paul speaks about the renewing of our minds. The old clothes us the old way of thinking. The new attire is the new way of thinking. When he talks about getting dressed, he’s talking about thinking differently. When folks get married, the focus should be on the new thing you are creating, not the old stuff you brought. In the early months of the American Revolutionary War, one of the greatest challenges George Washington faced was to change the thinking of his soldiers from that of being Virginians or New Yorkers and start thinking of themselves as Americans. When it comes to our lives or our families or our friendships or our nation, we all have to think about one another in a new way or we will never be all we were created and redeemed to be. God constructed His creation with unity and community in mind. In the body of Christ, when one member has a need that member can’t meet on his or her own, there is someone else in the body of Christ who can help. Every time one member helps another member, we add another piece to the new thing we are building. The body of Christ serves as an example to the world how this is all supposed to get done. In James 5, the Apostle paints a picture of each of us being lifesavers to everyone else in the body. None of us is going to give a speech heard by millions of people that will change the country. But we all have a circle of influence that we can have an effect on, and by doing that, we enlist more people in this new thing we are building. In a few weeks, we will celebrate 250 years of history of our great country. While the past has its place, where we are headed is far more important. When we pray today for our divided country, we need to pray that we use this upcoming celebration as the catalyst for building something new. Good message today Vince. Everyone have a safe week. Looking forward to next week. 🙌🙌🙌

Happy Memorial Day tomorrow. Everyone have fun and remember the meaning of the day. Our Singing will be this Saturday, 6:00. Pot luck dinner following. Prayer requests: Buddy and Sis; Frankie, Kathy, Justin McCurdy family; Bonita is now in re-hab; David’s aunt passed away this week; Cathy’s friend who lost her brother last week is traveling to Tulsa for the funeral; A friend of Tanya, Carolyn Harper, has been placed on hospice; Vince has biopsy and surgery coming up; Sandra has 2 doctors appointments this week; Sandra had an unspoken request. We had several members absent today. We all hope everyone is okay. Today’s message: Stones of Remembrance— Memorial Day 2026 Tomorrow is Memorial Day in America, when we honor the men and women who have given their lives in the service of our country. We include in that group those police officers who have also made the ultimate sacrifice to protect and defend our country wits people. There is a thought that I will repeat several times because it’s important enough to repeat. The thought is: No one can remember anything unless it has first been told or taught to them. I can’t remember anything about orbital physics because nothing was ever taught to me about orbital physics. Aubrey Ann can’t remember anything about Section 179 of the IRS code because nothing about that has been taught to her. Nothing becomes a part of our memories by accident. What we remember is the result of either experience or teaching. In Joshua 3 & 4, the story of the children of Israel crossing the Jordan River to enter into the Promised Land. A few details: in verse 3:15 the crossing occurred during flood season, when it was most dangerous and difficult. Every one of us is able to testify that God does some of His greatest work during flood season. He will make the challenges hard so that when we come through them, we will know that there is only one God, and we’re not Him. If you are in flood season today, it may not be as bad as it looks because God may be about to use this moment to show you just how almighty He truly is. Verse 16 tells us that the waters of the Jordan were dammed up and stopped flowing until the people crossed. Verse17 tells us that, when the people crossed, they crossed on dry land. Other than God making it happen, how could the riverbed be dry when there has been water flowing over it for centuries? After the crossing, God told Joshua to select 12 representatives of the people, one from each tribe, to return to the riverbed and bring back a stone, a large stone. They were to bring these stones to the site where they would camp and there construct a memorial — not just to what happened there that day, but Who did it. He didn’t want the people to forget. Remembering is a big deal to God. Gen. 8:15 God said “I will remember my covenant between me and you.” Ex 2:24 God remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. You don’t have to be God to remember things that are important. All you have to do is decide that something is important enough to be worth remembering. Read Deut 4:9, Deut 6:10, Deut 8. Ex33:13 Moses is praying for Israel and He says “Remember that this nation is your people.” There is no place on earth like America and there is no doubt that we are God’s people. Our prayer needs to be that more Americans remember so that we all start acting like it and so God will restore His favor on us. We were a great country before we were a rich country. That’s because we lived as one nation under God. When things start going well, it’s easy to forget. It’s easy to start thinking that it’s all about you, for you,to you, through you and because of you. God says “You better not forget!” Apostle Paul says “What do you have that you have not been given?” Psalm 145:4-7 emphasizes the importance of taking this great gift of faith and grace we have all received and transferring it to those coming after us. Along with the privilege of what we have been blessed with comes the responsibility of transferring it to our kids and grandkids. It won’t happen all by itself. Too many young people today are not asking the question “What do these stones mean?” What do these pictures mean? What do these stories mean?”In Judges 2:10 after a generation of believers passed on, there came another generation who did not know the Lord or the great things He had done for Israel, and as a result, the society disintegrated. There had been no transfer. One of the measurements of the success and effectiveness of us as individual Christians and of this church as a Christian church, is “Are we transferring a living faith in a living God to the next generation?” We’ve need talking about the importance of remembering, and of passing along the things it’s important for all of us to remember. Tomorrow is Memorial Day, and the same principle applies to the things we believe about America as we believe about God and Jesus. One of the things is gratitude for those who have made sacrifices for us. Those whom we honor tomorrow can teach us all something about sacrifice. 1775, Concord, MA and 1777 Valley Forge, PA, 1814, New Orleans, 1863, Chancellorsville and Vicksburg, 1865, 1918, Bellevue Wood and Flanders Field, 1944, Omaha Beach and 1845, Iwo Jima, 1953, Pork Chop Hill, 1968, Danang,1991, Desert Storm and Desert Shield, Afghanistan, Today in Iran. Those who gave their lives understood sacrifice. They each had something that was extremely valuable to them — their lives. But they laid them down, sacrificed them, because they considered America and our cherished freedoms to be even more valuable . They didn’t know who we are and yet they made the sacrifice so that we could come to church today, and so this week we can go to the jobs we choose to go to, and we can send our children to the schools we choose to send them to, and shop at the stores we choose to shop at, and read the books and watch the TV programs we choose. The freedom they died for us more than a concept; it has names and faces attached to it. For a long time, information about the past was not lost because older people passed it down to younger people by telling them about it. About God. About Jesus. About America and America’s military being a force for good in the world. We can no longer assume that they will get the whole truth about it now from books, certainly not from the internet, social media, and sadly not even in school. That means the responsibility, and the privilege, of doing the telling is ours. So when we’re telling our young people about family histories and telling stories about grandparents and about the crazy stuff Uncle Joe or Aunt Sally used to do, let’s make sure we tell them this: 2 people died for you. One was Jesus Christ, the other was an American soldier. Jesus died so you could have eternal life. Somebody in an American military uniform, or a police officer’s uniform, died so you can have the freedoms you cherish in this life. Good message Vince. Please keep Annie in your prayers as she travels to New Orleans for a teacher conference. Praying for our church and congregation. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Singing Saturday night. And church next Sunday. Have a good week.🇺🇸🇺🇸✝️🙏

Cherri and Harlieann have birthdays on May 23. Our singing is May 30, 6:00. Pot luck meal following. Prayer requests: Eddie’s family, list his brother; Randy list 3 friends this week; Greg Whitlock has cancer and will need surgery; Kathy is out of the hospital; Cathy’s friend lost her brother, Keith Abernathy Friday; Sandra; Vince; Buddy and Sis; Gideon has strep throat; Melony’s mother, Linda Aycock; Cheri’s step mother, Bonita being released from hospital. Today’s message: Never Give Up — Sustained by Grace. Everybody is tired! Tired of the bills; tired of the negativity in our politics; tired of the attacks on America. We’re all tired of going to the doctor, tired of hearing diagnoses we don’t want to hear. Tired of getting medicines we don’t want to take. Tired of seeing our loved ones going through their struggles. If we’re going to tell the truth, there is the temptation to be tired if God. Tired of praying and Him not answering. Tired of coming to church and doing our best to live right and tired of still waiting for your blessing. The Book of Hebrews was written to tired people. God knew his people would get tired. To be a Christian meant to be persecuted. Some had their property confiscated. Many were thrown into prison for being a Christian. There was an overall culture of rejection, they were tired. God inspired the author of the Book of Hebrews to write to these tired people. The one overriding message going through the whole book is never give up! When we get through today, my prayer is that we will all have a little better insight into and understanding of grace. If you understand grace, you will never give up. The message of grace in Hebrews is don’t you dare give up! Hebrews chapter 4, a word repeated over and over is “rest”. In verses1,3,4,5,8,9,10, grace wants to give you rest. Rest is that sense of well-being, of calm, even in the midst of trouble. The rest that grace gives means that whatever is wrong does not have control over your spirit and therefore your well-being. Grace is the inexhaustible supply of God’s goodness. He gives us what we do not deserve, cannot provide on our own, and would never be able to repay. Hebrews 4:14, read it. Translation: You better not give up! Hold fast to your declaration of Christ. Don’t back away from God or Jesus, don’t back away from your Christian witness. The author says we have a “High Priest” who stands between us and God’s an intermediary. He brings our sins, our needs, our request to God and intercedes for us. Our High Priest is the Son of God so He stands above and is more powerful than any of the things that are making us weary. In Hebrews 1:1-3, we’re told that through Jesus all things were made, that Jesus is the heir of all things, and that, in between making it all and then getting it all back when He returns to rule the earth, He sustains all things. The passage also says that He sympathizes with our needs because He went through everything we will ever go through — hunger, thirst, loneliness, rejection, betrayal, even death. It was worse for Him because He didn’t deserve any of it. Verse 16 read it. “Let us draw near”. He is inviting us to draw near, into the very presence of God. If you have a long distance relationship with Jesus, only a visit on Sunday morning, you will not get the help, the strength and the comfort you’re looking for. Jesus says “Let’s remove the distance and get close.” Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life.” When you skip the Son, you miss the Dad. The Son is the High Priest. When we conclude our prayers with “In Jesus’ name”, it’s the way to make contact with the One who dispenses the grace we need. It’s a waste that so many Christians let so much of God’s grace go unused because they fail to draw near. You can’t expect to pray in church on Sunday and get the help you need on Thursday if you haven’t talked to Him in 4 days. So what is it that we are to draw near to? It says the throne. What’s on that throne? The verse tells us grace. He’s got more grace than you could ever use. Ephesians 2:7 tells us that grace will flow throughout eternity. Sometimes grace shows up as “problem solved.” Sometimes it shows up, as the Apostle Paul writes, as “peace that surpasses understanding.” The Lord will sustain you and He will sustain me and He will sustain anybody if they will just draw near. Jesus is saying to you and to me today that we have a High Priest who is stronger than our circumstances and wants to offer help in our times of need. All we have to do is draw near.
This was a very good message Vince. I apologize for the length of it but there was so much to be said. Praying for all on the prayer list. Til next week, stay safe.✝️✝️✝️🙏

Today is Jim Gowan’s birthday. Happy Birthday Jim! We had some guests today. Welcome to them. Prayer requests: Buddy and Sis; Emily Simmermaker waiting for biopsy results on lump on her neck; Stuart’s brother’s wife has a lump on her neck; Irene unspoken; Benny; Sandra and Vince; Gideon testing this week under a lot of pressure. Today’s message, brought by Ronald Crowell, What Do We Have To Do To Be Forgiven Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper but one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. We all have sins we don’t want made public. Some are from the past, a life that is long passed. If we have not confessed that sin to God it remains a sin, a distortion on our heart and soul. I chose the word distortion because it changes the direction of or stops the progression of whatever needs to be completed. Someone is assembling a piece of equipment. During the assembly process there are two pieces that don’t mesh, the one doing the assembling ignores this and continue assembling the machine. Outwardly, it looks perfect. But when it is put to use the tiny distortion eliminates the usefulness of the machine. Sin is the same way, it is the distortion that stops the progression of our final product which is to hear “Well done my good and faithful servant.” How is sin concealed? 1-Active denial and/or secrecy. We try to hide actions. Put it out of our mind hoping it will leave our heart, but it won’t. You can’t hide from God, He knows every sin. 2-Rationalization/Justification. Excusing behavior, “Times are different now” “Everybody does that”, “That was only for people back in Jesus’ time.” 3-False confidence. Believing that sin is not damaging, “It’s just a little white lie.”, “Just this one time won’t hurt anything.” 4-Hardening of the heart. This is hiding sin from yourself, ignoring your conscience, which is the Holy Spirit talking to or (trying to) directly to you. 5-Redefining sin. This one is the most prevalent and the most dangerous. This is being done by omitting or changing words in scripture to fit what is easier or socially acceptable. I think the biggest way sin is being redefined is by science, calling it a disease. Sin is Sin! Drunkenness is not a disease, drug addiction is not a disease, perversion is not a disease, promiscuity is not a disease. These are all choices that are made in the heart that eventually work their way to the surface and become action. In order for us to not conceal our sin we must own our sin. This means taking full responsibility for the actions, words, and thoughts that got us to the point of sin. We must realize we alone are responsible for the transgression. No one or no thing can make you sin. To confess our sin we have to recognize it, through God’s word and the Holy Spirit, as a sin. This is where conviction of the Spirit takes place. This is the only instance where ignorance of the law may be an excuse. Romans 2:12 All those who do not know the law (of God given to Moses) and did what was wrong, will die. But they will not be judged by the law. All those who know the law and did what was wrong will be judged by the law. An admittance of wrong doing and a heart felt conviction are non elective in the process of confession. This is an internal modification of a distortion. Renounce: to give up, refuse, or resign, usually by a formal declaration. In order to receive forgiveness we must whole heartedly give up, refuse, resign, refuse to follow, obey or recognize each sin by a firman declaration to God. Read 1John1:9. We as part of the family of God are to those outside the family in the recognition of the distortions that are hindering their relationship with the Father. Jesus tells us not to judge others,Matthew 7:1-2. We should focus on being a light to them and loving them. 1 Corinthians 16:15, Fo everything in love. It is impossible to love others if you are mad at them or hate them.Anger and hate are not the way of Jesus.
Ronald, that was a very good message. Good job! Everyone have a safe week. Please keep,, Aubrey. Please accept my apologies for not posting last Sunday’s message. Great sermon from one awesome fellow. ❤️. We love you Ronald Crowell!

Mitch has a new granddaughter. Bennie thanked everyone for all the prayers during his heart cath. Prayer requests: Buddy and Sis; Rusty Crain is in the hospital; Cathy’s co-worker’s husband passed away; Sandra’s cousin passed away; Cheri, Randy and Kenneth’s sister Diane; Dorothy’s sister and nephew passed away this week; Travis Rice blood pressure problems, Shawn Stokes cancer; Vince’s friend is having a hip replacement; Katrina’s brother-in-law, Chad Phillips is having by-pass surgery; Baylor’s Mom; Frankie and Otis have unspoken requests; Vince will be traveling to San Antonio to visit his son and family. Today’s Message: The Decision to Obey Christ
How can we tell whether we have actually made the decision to follow Christ? Where is the proof that we are in fact following Him? Desiring to follow Jesus means that we want to please him and therefore that we love him. The proof of love is in obedience. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” None of us is per in our obedience. Our lives need to be heading in the direction of doing what He says more and more consistently until it is our lifestyle. Keeping most of His commandments most of the time is pretty easy. There are times when keeping all His commandments is difficult. In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus tells a story after He has delivered the Sermon on the Mount where He introduced the Beatitudes. He tells the story of 2 men who were each building a house. He knew all about making plans and setting frameworks and making things fit together. He used that example as a way to talk to people about how they should build their lives. He makes clear that there are only 2 ways to build our lives—wisely or foolishly. What was the difference between the houses being built by these 2 men? The difference was in their foundations. Verse 24 one man built his house on the rock. Verse 26 built his house on the sand. The difference between these 2 men was the difference between a short term view vs. a long-term view. Whether you are building a house or building a life, a long-term view is essential because the short term view never works out. Next in Jesus’ story is a torrential rain storm. The houses were not tested when the weather was good. One was as good as the other. The test of the strength of their houses showed up when it rained. The test of your character shows up when it rains and when there is wind blowing against your life. Read verses 24 and 26, both men heard the same words. Both heard but only one did. The power to lead a productive and righteous life is in the sermon you hear and the Bible you read and your “Amen” with your feet.
It is all about your walk. It is never about hearing only. It’s about doing. It is in the obedience to Christ as the architect of your life. If you and I expect to build lives that will stand the test of windy, stormy days, we have to assume that Jesus, as the Creator of life, knows more about how to put a life together than we do. Let’s not forget that following Christ does not mean nice weather from now on. The man who heard Jesus’ words and acted on them still got rained on. But his house — his life stood the test because of its foundation. You can’t lay a foundation when it’s raining. So if today is a sunny day, it’s a good day for pouring foundations. It’s a good day to reflect on the goodness of God and do something intentionally for His glory. When the wind begins to blow and the rains begin to come in your life, the foundation must already be in place for you to handle whatever comes. John 14:15-16, read it. In verse 15 Jesus says “show you love me by obeying me.” Obey me (verse 15) and “My Father will send you a helper” (verse 16). It starts with our obedience. James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the Word. Do what it says.” Verse 23, read it. If you don’t comb your hair or shave or put on a clean shirt, nothing in your life has been changed. The word of God can transform—it can transform you and it can transform me—but only if we do something with it. Every time we read the Bible or every time we hear a sermon, the question on the floor is always the same: What do I need to do because of what I just read or heard? What action do I need to take as a result of the message that the Lord just sent to me? You may take medicine without knowing exactly what it is. Why did you take it? Was it blind faith? You knew something about the person who told you to take it. He had letters behind his name, MD. When Jesus tells us to do something, to obey Him is not blind faith, we know something about Him who told us to do it. He has letters after His name too. The letters are L-O-R-D. He loves you so just do what he says. Good message Vince. Have a safe trip.

April 19, 2026
We welcomed guests this morning. Hope they will return. Prayer requests: Benny is in hospital; Buddy and Sis; Sandra; Maddie Mercer chemo; Irene, Cheri, Otis have unspoken prayer requests; Tanya’s uncle’s eyeball was saved, he may regain his sight, her other uncle is having kidney problems. Thanks to Vince for tilling up the arena yesterday. Today’s message: The Decision to Follow Jesus. The decision to follow Jesus is a personal decision. Only you can make it for you. John 21:18-19, read it. After Jesus told Peter, “Follow me.”, in verse 20 Peter sees Apostle John following after them, Peter asks “Lord what about him?” Verse 22, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You follow me!” Jesus is saying “I am his Lord and I have a plan for him. I am your Lord and I have a plan for you. What you need to do, Peter, is follow me.” There are too many folks who spend too much time and effort paying attention to and trying to figure out what God is doing for other folks, they are missing out on what God has planned for them. Our decision to follow Jesus is non-negotiable. Many of us will leave church today and go get some dinner. We will make a lot of choices. Following Jesus is not a smorgasbord of choices. Following Jesus is not a negotiation. “If you’ll just let me pick the parts I like, Jesus, then I will follow you.” Jesus is not negotiating His program. Following Jesus is not a decision make once and you’re done. It is a decision we have to make ongoingly. You have to get up and decide to follow Him tomorrow and every day thereafter. Our hope should be that, by making that decision every day we will all be following Him more closely. Philippians 3:12-14 Paul say that no matter how much progress we have made, there is always more to do until we are with Him in eternity. In the meantime, we follow Him. In Luke 9: 57 Jesus encounters 3 men who all say they want to follow Him. The first one says “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus answers him,”The Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Jesus is telling the man, “I’m offering no guarantees, no promises of prosperity or longevity or painless paths.” Of the other 2 men, one wants to go home and bury his father first, the other wants to go home and say goodbye to his family first. Jesus rejects both of their statements. Jesus “When you decide to follow Me today, you start to follow Me today.” A story in Luke 5, Jesus has been teaching along the shore of the Sea of Galilee. He gets into Peter’s boat. He asks him to put out a little from the shore, Jesus sits down and begins to preach from the boat. When He has finished preaching, He told Peter to put out into the deep water and lower his nets for a catch. Peter said “Master, we have been fishing all night and have caught nothing. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” Peter and his friends lower the nets and get the biggest catch of their lives. The message here, in verse 8 Peter recognizes and acknowledges that Jesus is the Lord. And in verse 11, “they pulled their boats up on the shore, left everything, and followed Him.” There was a huge catch of fish in those boats. There was a lot of money in those boats. What was in those boats had no lasting value. The lasting eternal value came in following Him. If Jesus is not the most important thing in your life, you are not following Him. If He is not more important than your money, your job, your career or your relationships, you are not following Him. Ray and Kathy sang a song last week about witnessing something happen in your life or in the life of someone you know, and the only explanation is “That’s God.” Every one of us should be able to think of something that happened that can only be explained by “That’s God.” If we can call something like that to mind, we should have no trouble in responding to Jesus’ call: “Follow Me!” Another good message Vince. See everyone next week. Stay safe.✝️🙏

April 12, 2026
April 14 is Irene’s birthday. Happy Birthday Irene! Irene’s daughter, Michelle and her friend Pete were at church today. They came from Florida to celebrate Irene’s birthday. Prayer requests: Buddy and Sis; Charles and Bonita Smith; Sandra had a cousin passed this week; another cousin of Sandra’s was placed on hospice; Vince has an appointment on April 15th; Carol’s husband Rusty; Irene has unspoken request; Kirk Doss; the family of Nick Donald; David and Laverne’s daughter and granddaughter have been visiting from Utah, they will be flying back asking for traveling grace. Today’s message:
The Risks of Compromise God won’t tolerate compromise. Revelations 2:12-13 , The One Who is speaking-sharp 2-edged sword. I know where you are, live, have church. City run by hell. Jesus pays the Pergamum Church a compliment. You have remained faithful to me in spite of where you are: “Where Satan has his throne.” We may not live in a city run by hell, but we live in a country and a world that is increasingly critical of Christianity. Increasingly intolerant of Christianity. We live in a world where, if you proclaim Jesus and suggest that people should live by His standards, it’s often called hate speech. We live in an area known as the Bible Belt. Christianity is more prevalent and more widely practiced and accepted than many places. There will be times when there will be pressure to compromise our beliefs, our principles. To keep silent when something needs to be said is to compromise. After Adam and Eve had sinned in the Garden of Eden, God came to them, read Genesis 3:11-12. Adam tried to blame Eve for his failure. In Genesis 3:6, it’s clear that Adam was right there when Eve chose to eat the forbidden fruit. He kept his mouth shut, and so was guilty of compromising his commitment to his God. For every important decision we make, our reference point needs to be the word of God, no compromise. Jesus had paid the church a compliment, but in Rev. 2:14, Jesus says “But I do have something against you. There are those among you who hold to the teachings of Balaam.” Numbers 22-25 Balaam dealings with Balak, the king of Moab. I can’t curse them because God keeps blocking the curse. “But,” he tells Balak, “if you want a curse on them, just get God to curse them for you.” “Their God will not tolerate compromise. It is in His character that compromise is not acceptable, so just get the people of Israel to compromise and God will curse them for you.” Balak invited the people of Israel to come over to Moab and visit. The attitude of the people of Israel became “What’s the harm in being neighborly?” They began the journey down the slippery slope of compromise. They began to intermarry with the Moabites, eat food sacrificed to idols, and accept their gods on an equal par with the one true God. God cursed them, just as Balaam said He would. How many Christian churches now fit that description? How many, in the name of attracting more members and putting more people in the pews, have chosen to compromise the Word—compromise the message of the Gospel? Compromise is a tool the devil uses to try and marginalize Jesus, to make Him less relevant until he makes Jesus nearly completely irrelevant. What happens if we refuse to compromise and are victorious? Read Rev.2:17. “Receive some of the hidden manna”. It’s our daily bread. He is saying that the stronger we show ourselves to be, the stronger He will make us. God has yet to reveal all of the things He intends to do for us, all of the ways He wants to bless us. He clearly says that, as we continue to show him our faithfulness, especially in the face of challenges, there is no end to His generosity. He will give us each day our daily bread. The Artemis II rocket took off for a historic space mission this week. The rocket sat on the launch pad waiting to journey into a whole new realm. But that rocket was going nowhere until fire was ignited, a blazing fire that took it from the gravitational pull of the Earth and delivered it to the glory of the heavens. No fire, no liftoff. No igniting, no destiny. Our Christian lives are like that. Many Christians stay earthbound for far too long, seeming unable to get off the ground. What keeps many from lifting off and getting about the mission is they have trouble getting their fire lit. So often, what is preventing the ignition from happening is that they are stuck on the slippery slope of compromise, trying to mix a little God with a little world and not realizing it’s like trying to blend oil and water. It’s hard to get the fire lit without total and absolute commitment to the mission. Good message Vince. Everyone have a good week.✝️✝️✝️
