We are so excited to officially welcome Dr. Brice Jones to the First West and First West Worship team as our new Media and Communication Director!

Brice brings a wealth of experience in communication, media, and creative leadership, but even more than that, he has a heart for the local church and a desire to use his gifts to serve the Lord.

We are incredibly thankful for the way the Lord continues to provide the right people to serve our church family and alongside our staff. Grateful to have Brice joining the First West Worship team and can’t wait to see all the Lord has in store!

STAFF SPOTLIGHT | Meet Dr. Brice Jones

We’re excited to welcome Brice as our new Media and Communication Director!

In this role, Brice will lead our media and communication efforts while also providing leadership for our production teams. He brings a strong background in communications, leadership, and creative strategy, and we’re grateful for the experience he brings to the First West team.

Prior to joining the First West staff, Brice served in senior leadership at the University of Louisiana Monroe, most recently as Executive Director of Governmental and External Affairs. During his tenure at ULM, he also served for five years as Executive Director of the Office of Marketing and Communications, leading the university’s brand, communications, media relations, marketing, and creative efforts. His broader higher education experience has included governmental and external affairs, grants administration, trademark licensing, and institutional strategy.

Trained as a historian of Early Christianity, Brice holds a B.A. from Lee University, a M.A. from Yale University, and a Ph.D. from Concordia University (Montreal). The opportunity to serve First West brings together several important threads of his life and career: a background in ministry and biblical studies education, years of experience leading communications and creative teams, and a deep commitment to the local church.

For Brice and his family, joining the First West staff is especially meaningful because First West has already been home for more than a decade. Brice and his wife, Meghan, have called First West their church home since moving to Northeast Louisiana in 2015. Together with their three children, Hadley, Leighton, and Carter, they have spent the years since worshiping, serving, building relationships, and raising their family within the First West community.

Outside of work, Brice enjoys hunting, fishing, woodworking, sports, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

We could not be more excited to have Brice serving alongside us in this new role. Please join us in welcoming him to the staff team!

There’s nothing like a room full of people lifting their voices together in worship!

It was so good to have our First West Worship Choir and Orchestra back leading our church family together.

We’re excited to hear the room filled again with voices and instruments as we worship Jesus together. Our choir and orchestra are such an important part of the First West Worship family, and we’re grateful for every person who uses their gifts to help lead our church.

Last night was such a great way to kick off a new season with our First West Worship family! We worshiped together, enjoyed some great fellowship, and looked ahead with excitement for all God has in store this fall.

We’re also incredibly thankful for Dave Denton with Tone Hauler and the way he served our team. Dave spent time making sure our guitarists’ instruments were properly set up, cared for, and ready for another full season of ministry. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes things that makes a bigger difference than most people realize.

If you’re a Worship Pastor or Worship Ministry leader, I would seriously encourage you to consider having Dave come spend some time with your team and their gear. He's incredibly gifted, but even more than that, he genuinely cares about serving musicians and Worship Teams well.

Grateful for Dave and for everyone who helped make last night such a great start to the fall. We’re excited for another season of leading our church to worship Jesus together!

What a great day of worship!

It was a privilege to gather with our church family and lift high the Name above all names. From the beautiful music of our string section welcoming everyone in the lobby to having our choir back leading worship this morning, it was a joy to worship together.

We're so grateful for every volunteer who faithfully serves in the Worship Ministry. Your willingness to use your gifts each week helps create an environment where our church family can gather, worship, and encounter the Lord together. Thank you for serving so faithfully.

We're already looking forward to next Sunday.

The God who governs angel armies
Has set encampments around me
Whom shall I fear?

What a powerful morning of worship at First West this past Sunday as we lifted our voices and declared together that no matter what may come our way, we do not have to fear. All is well because the God of Angel Armies goes before us.

There is nothing like being together in the presence of the Lord.
