About 20 years ago, Nick, Joe, and JoAnn sang together as the Pentecostal Lighthouse "Trio." Old timers at church remember the Trio's beautiful blend of God-honoring voices. BENJAMIN PHILLIP VELIE
November 19, 1939 – November 24, 2023

Our faithful pastor for over 40 years, Brother Ben has now passed from this life into the waiting arms of Jesus whom he deeply loved. We rejoice with him at his home-going, while we also mourn his absence from us. We are comforted knowing that he is now free from the cares of this life and enjoying fellowship once again with his family and friends who have gone before him into life everlasting.

We are grateful for his unceasing labor as a loving shepherd over God's flock here at Pentecostal Lighthouse. With heartfelt thanks we acknowledge that his was a life poured out in service to the King.

He sowed God's Word and Holy Spirit Life into us throughout the long years of ever-changing seasons. He taught us to make our relationship with Jesus Christ our greatest priority in life. He knew the importance of bringing the church to maturity, and his vision and desire as our pastor was to stir within each of us a heart that hungered for the presence of God. He encouraged us to pursue God for ourselves so that we would truly know Him and be conformed to His image.

His challenge for us was "There is more. Keep reaching. Press on. God has a plan, and we have our place in it. God is always victorious, for He is greater than all." May we strive to honor Brother Ben by continuing to honor Jesus Christ as we live our lives before Him.

Sis Donna's Sunday School lesson started with the account of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), how King Saul doubted the young man's ability to fight Goliath. But David said "Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear ... Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear." MUSIC AT THE LIGHTHOUSE comes in all flavors. We sing traditional hymns from the hymnal, popular Gospel music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, as well as modern, up-to-date praise and worship songs. We only require: (1) that songs conform to sound Bible doctrine and (2) that songs glorify God. For example, songs you may hear and sing include:

Walk for Life, 2007. Our Lighthouse Christian Academy school garnered the most support that year, even compared to those BIG churches. We remember sisters Jan Velie, JoAnn Gibson, and Celeste Velie for their tireless labor of love (for about zero pay) which produced many fine young people back then, who are godly adults today. Thank you, sisters! Who do you see in the picture???
