How does the unity of the Spirit manifest beyond the local church? How do churches and individual Christians demonstrate the unity of the Spirit in their relationships with one another? It all begins and centers on the gospel.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only basis for Christian unity. To depart from the gospel is to depart from the faith. Unity in error is unity in ruin.

“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price." - Isaiah 55:1

Forgiveness. Salvation. Eternal life. Free to all who will turn from their sin and believe in the Lord Jesus.

Nothing you can do to buy it. Nothing you can do to earn it. All it requires is that you come to God confessing your bankruptcy--your sin and and hopelessness--and come receive the free gift from the hand of the Lord.

This is the gospel. There's no better news in all the universe.

"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” - James 4:6

Jesus came to save sinners. The Scriptures testify that all who turn from their sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. Humble yourself. Confess your sins. Come to him and find healing in his name. The way of salvation is open to all who will come!

If we are in Christ, Paul calls us to then live in a manner worthy of our calling. The apostle then gives us clear instruction about what that looks like.

The Bible is not interested in simply teaching us a system of ethics. Paul isn’t interested in creating a bunch of moralists who think they can earn God’s favor. Christian ethics apart from saving faith equals death. You must be born again.
