3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
4. That all have sinned and come short

of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
5. That justification regeneration and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
6. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
7. Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.
8. In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
9. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost
10. In water baptism by immersion. and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
11. Divine healing is provided for all in the Atonement,
12. In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saints' feet.
13. In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
14. In the bodily resurrection. eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked

Ungodly rulers influence people to sin.

THE LESSON OVERVIEW
After Solomon's death, his son Rehoboam became king. Rehoboam stubbornly refused to cooperate with the northern tribes of Israel in their pleas for leniency. These tribes rebelled, and the Israelites were divided into the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah. In the centuries that followed the southern kingdom maintained the dynastic rule of the house of David. However, not all those kings served God as David did. Some were good, others were bad, and some went back and forth. We will study Judah's kings next week. The northern kingdom of Israel started with Jeroboam and his rejection of the Law of God. This set a pattern for all of Israel's kings--none were good.
Bible commentator J. Vernon McGee told about studying the kings of Israel and Judah in Bible college. For one of their tests, students were to list the kings of both kingdoms and tell whether they were good or bad rulers. One student discovered if he memorized all the kings and wrote beside each one "a bad king," he would receive a 95 percent grade. This was an ingenious way to achieve a good exam score, but a sad commentary on these two kingdoms. This story illustrates the rebellious history of God's people. Yet, God was faithful to those who served Him. He never completely forsook the Israelites and preserved a remnant of righteous followers.

THE LESSON OVERVIEW
We begin a study of one of the most tragic periods in the history of ancient Israel. This period followed the rule of three kings--Saul, David and Solomon. for 120 years, the people of Israel were united as one nation. (These three kings each ruled for forty years.) Under David and during the early reign of Solomon, the Israelites experienced their golden age. They were victorious in battle. They expanded their borders. They were prosperous and thriving. They built a glorious temple to honor and worship the Lord. In every way, God blessed them. But as Solomon aged he turned from a pure heart and pure worship. The king whom had built a magnificent temple to honor the one true God turned tom idols and built shrines to honor the gods of the surrounding nations.
As a result of Solomon's infidelity, the judgement of God came upon the land and the people. What should have been a royal dynasty lasting for ages was torn away from Solomon's family, and the nation of Israel was divided into two kingdoms. The southern kingdom was called Judah, and its 19 kings were all descendants of David. Judah endured for about three hundred years. The northern kingdom was called Israel. It also had 19 kings, but from various tribes and families. Israel followed other gods, especially Baal and the gods of Canaanites. This kingdom lasted for about two hundred years before facing ultimate destruction.
