Lick Fork Pentecostal Church

Lick Fork Pentecostal Church Welcome to Lick Fork Pentecostal Church. We are a Full Gospel, Bible believing church in West Liberty In 1967, under the direction of interim pastor, Rev.

Lick Fork Church was built in 1914 by the County department to serve as a school for the community. At that time, many buildings served as multi-purpose structures, and Lick Fork also served as a church. In the early years of the church, Evangelists, Oliver and Annie Wilson, helped usher in the Pentecostal Holiness movement to the area, shortly after the Azusa Street Revival. In 1947, Ansel Carte

r, held a month long revival, in which 35 people went to the altar and 21 were baptized. This would be the first of many revivals to begin in the church. In the 1960's, Lick Fork continued to see an increase in attendance and a necessary addition was made to the lower part of the building. Eugene Haney, a youth program was started, and lead by Della Adkins. Sister Della Mae continued to lead this ministry for nearly 40 years. This program is still held weekly, and averages around 50 youth ranging from ages 2 to 18. Due to the continued growth of the church, in 1973, another expansion was made, this time adding a section to the upper part of the building, as well as a foyer and indoor restrooms. In 1979, Rev. Bobby Centers held a revival, were many people repented and received the Holy Ghost. During this revival, 20 converts were baptized and healings took place. By the early 1990's, the church had again reached capacity and needed to expand. With few options to add on to the existing building, the adjacent property was purchased from church members Lee and Lorene Caskey to build a new church. Construction began on the new sanctuary in 1995 and was completed in 1996 and opened. In 2000, Pastor Jay B Lewis began planning the development of a Fellowship Hall. Pastor Johnny Dagnan and congregation moved forward with construction the following year and construction was completed in 2002. In 2019 and 2020, another revival, we named "The Excited Revival," broke out as an extension of our annual Christmas Revival, under the administration of Pastor, Dr. Jonathan Sargent. During this 76 night revival, and throughout the remainder of 2020, over 150 people came to the altar and over 60 were baptized. In 2020, the church also went under an extensive renovation and remodel. Today the church stands on the same property where it all began in 1914 and continues to flourish and grow, and see miracles, signs and wonders performed. Services are Saturday at 7:00pm, Sunday at 6:00 pm, and Wednesday night Bible Study at 7:00 pm. Arise Addiction Recovery every Tuesday at 7:00 pm
Youth Service first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Pastor Dr. Jonathan Sargent

“Do You Have Worms or Scab?”| Pastor Jonathan Sargent

Most Christians are familiar with Psalm 23, but few realize that David was describing actual shepherding practices when he wrote these words.

Why would a shepherd anoint a sheep’s head with oil?

In this message, we explore four reasons shepherds applied oil to their sheep:
🩹 To heal old wounds
🪰 To protect against nasal flies and destructive irritations
🦠 To treat the contagious disease of sheep scab
🐏 To prevent deadly battles among fighting rams

Could it be that some of us are being distracted by “flies” of offense, criticism, worry, jealousy, and aggravation?

Could we be carrying the “scab” of bitterness, gossip, discontentment, or church hurt that has spread from others?

Many believers are not being defeated by lions and wolves. They are being robbed of peace by smaller enemies that have settled into their minds and hearts.

The answer is still the Shepherd’s oil.

Join us as we discover how the Great Shepherd heals wounds, calms irritation, cures spiritual disease, and restores His flock.
