Each year we have the opportunity and privilege to serve others during Veterans Day activities at Glad Tidings Church. This year, we have again been asked to help in the distribution, collection, and delivery of Hope Bags! What an honor it is for us to help with this project!
Here's WHEN and HOW help is needed.
- Sunday, Nov 6th (distribution)
- The distribution of Hope Bags is set for this Sunday, after BOTH services.
- We're looking for (4) additional people at BOTH services to stand beside the "tree" of Bags and help guests find the right Bag for the organization they want to help.
- For the 1st service, this would be from about 10:00 am to 10:30 am
- For the 2nd service, from about 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm
- Sunday, Nov 13th (collection)
- ALL HANDS ON DECK!
- ARRIVE AT 8:00 am
- Help is needed to "unload the Bags" from vehicles as people arrive, then carry them to their specific table.
- Help is also needed at EACH of the (5) tables for the various organizations. We want to have a "specialist" at each table to verify that the items in that Bag match the organization!
- We also need to "count" the number of Bags that are being returned for each organization.
- Runners will also be needed to take Bags from the tables, and load them into the appropriate vans.
- Help is needed to serve "Coffee and Doughnuts" to our Veterans and guests.
- Delivery of Hope Bags
- Following the 2nd service, Pastor Scott will pray with us in the parking lot.
- VR will then ride or drive to "Veteran's Making a Difference" in Reading.
- We'll form a human chain to help with unloading of the Bags.
- Doug & Liz Graybill to share a few words with us about VMAD. (light refreshments)
- VR will then ride to "Teen Challenge" in Rehrersburg and help with the unloading of those Bags.
- Pastor Bryan will be sharing some words of encouragement with us!
- Lunch at Kauffman's BBQ.
If it rains on November 13th, we'll deliver the bags in vehicles.
- We also want to thank Steve and Cathy Mitchell for their willingness to help with the planning of this event. We appreciate their participation and support in meetings with GT Leadership during the planning process. It was a huge blessing to have them on board this year!
