On this special Day of Thanksgiving, we turn to the Lord in prayer:

Good and gracious God, forgive me for taking credit where credit isn’t due! It’s so easy for me to mistakenly see my material possessions as a product of my hard work and wise investing. Correct my vision so that I recognize you as the source of all my bountiful blessings. Give me an attitude of gratitude that compels me to daily count my blessings and express my heartfelt thanks to you, their source. I thank you for my bountiful material blessings as I praise you for my even more valuable spiritual blessings, secured for me by my Savior. Amen.

Lord, as our nation celebrates the contributions of working men and women, we thank you for the laborers in our factories, businesses, and communities. You ordained that many of our earthly blessings come through the labor of hands and minds of those who are employed in creating, production, and delivery of the things we need for daily life. Grant your blessing to those who embrace their calling. May they serve you in their vocations to the best of their ability, with honest and faithful labor. Gracious Creator, reward their efforts as you have declared that the worker deserves his wages. Wherever your people serve among the workers of our land, let us carry out our callings to your glory and out of love for our neighbor. Grant this for Jesus’ sake. Amen
