San Andres Parish in Payson held a Eucharistic procession around the church on June 14. The procession, originally planned for last November, was part of the parish’s events for the National Eucharistic Revival. In addition to the many parishioners who participated were state and district officers of the Utah Knights of Columbus: William Kelly, Immediate Past State Deputy; Frank Carmona, State Deputy; William McCauley, State Secretary; Edward Ortega, District Deputy; as well as members of the parish’s Father Dominguez Council 9561 and the Father Escalante Assembly 1146.

Miguel Vega, member of Council 7961, is ready to donate. His was one of 38 donations, 5 by brother Knights, at the blood drive held by the our council today.

Two Knights and a helper picked 120 pounds of apricots and donated them to the Carmelite Monetary where they will be turned into delicious jam for sale at the Carmelite fair in September.

The Red Cross has a blood crisis. So many drives have been cancelled around the country due to bad weather and other reasons that they see a looming severe shortage. Council 7961 at St. Joseph the Worker in West Jordan has answered their call and is holding a drive. Sign up here:

Dec. 22 marks the 145th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Blessed Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus, pictured here during his days at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. Father McGivney was ordained in 1877 by Archbishop James Gibbons in Baltimore’s historic Cathedral of the Assumption, the nation’s first cathedral.
