Sunday’s Recap, Monday’s Call: Acceptance

This week in Lessons in Leadership, we explored what it means to accept God’s call when we don’t have all the answers.

Moses and Peter both had a fire within them, but both needed time for that fire to mature. Anger and passion are not things we need to extinguish. When we see injustice, anger can be a faithful response. But God’s fire, like the burning bush, does not consume. It calls, invites, and purifies.

What might happen if we allowed our anger to mature into grief, compassion, and love?

As we begin a new week, Monday’s Call invites us to put that reflection into practice by noticing our own “fire,” practicing a faithful yes to God’s call, and making space for our fire to mature.

🎶 The Chancel Choir is starting back up! 🎶

Do you love to sing? Have you always wanted to give choir a try? Whether you have years of experience or have never sung in a choir before, you are welcome!

We know it takes people to make a choir possible, and we would love to see this ministry grow at Mountain Vista. So come help us make some joyful noise!

What if church didn’t have to look like church?

We’re inviting young adults ages 18–30 to help us reimagine what a spiritual community could look like. If you could reinvent church from the ground up, what would you create? A small group? A service project? Dinner and conversation? Something completely different?

This anonymous survey is an opportunity to share what you’re looking for, what you wish were different, and what you think a spiritual community could become.

You do not need to attend or be connected to Mountain Vista UMC to participate. Whether you love church, have complicated feelings about it, have stepped away from religion, or are simply curious about spirituality, your perspective is wanted.

Yesterday, we began a new sermon series, Lessons in Leadership, with an important question: How do we use the power we have?

Power is not inherently good or evil. It is the ability to influence what happens. And while we may not always feel powerful, each of us has some influence in the lives of others. What does the power we have make possible for others?

This week, we are invited to notice the power dynamics around us, uplift those with less power, reflect on the influence we hold, and live the Gospel through our actions.

🎁 Operation Christmas Child donations are being accepted NOW and events are coming soon!

There are lots of ways to help. Find one that works for you and be part of sending a little joy around the world! 🌎❤️

You can also help by donating items to be packed into shoeboxes. Donation items can be placed in the Fellowship Hall. Please make sure items will fit inside the shoeboxes, which measure **12" × 7" × 4⅜"**.

During Collection Week, individuals, churches, and other groups will bring their packed shoeboxes to Mountain Vista. Volunteers are needed to help! Contact the church office for volunteer opportunities and times.
