Email from Janet:
Hello dear woman of God,
How have you been? This certainly has been a life-changing year so far, and we have been praying for you to be strengthened during it. In the spirit we can tell that things are completely different, which also signifies a change in the physical realm. You see it all around us. You feel it as your heart breaks for the families of those who are killed and/or looted, for children who are struggling to do their school work without teacher's direct support and cannot spend time with their friends. So, I ask you again, how are you doing? The world we were born into no longer exists. So, as we do things differently now, we pray you are standing strong with Christ as your foundation.
One of the things we have to change is our monthly meetings. Since we have church now on Saturday mornings, the committee has decided to meet on July 10th, Friday night, from 6PM to 8PM for worship and dinner in lieu of our monthly breakfast. We will discuss future meetings at that meeting. We are very hopeful that you will be excited to get together again and join us.
"We know that we have a spiritual responsibility for the safety of our group, mentally we know people need to feel safe and physically, we know we need to maintain clean and sanitized spaces. Intellectually, we know people are in different seasons and places and have made a wide range of decisions concerning where they will and will not go. By grace, we will not shame, judge or condemn anyone for their decisions." (borrowed from Bishop Scales)
So here are a few things we discussed at our meeting to make sure you feel safe to come and spend time with us.
1. The women who prepare the food will wear gloves and masks as they prepare for you.
2. The food will be served by women with gloves and masks on so many hands are not on the food.
3. The tables will be doubled to ensure 6 feet of space between those who are eating and fellowshipping.
4. Chairs will be set up in a separated fashion. If you want to social distance, you have that choice and it will be respected.
We plan to have worship that night, and are so excited to spend time in His presence as we share a simple meal of fruit salad, green salad, and sandwiches. The committee is supplying the food, so no need to worry about bringing a dish to share, and yes, there will also be some brownies and cookies for dessert.
In order to set up the room for social distancing, we need to know how many people will be there. Please click on this link to sign up so we can arrange things accordingly. There is also a place for comments and concerns on the sign up sheet. Sign up here
We long to see you again and catch up with you. Please sign up now and put it on your calendar. "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity" (Psalm 133:1)
Hope to see you there.
Blessings of peace, mercy and grace, to you and your household.
Much love,
Janet
