Tomorrow is the day 💚

🏫✨ We are raising funds to transform our children’s and youth ministry classrooms into vibrant, welcoming spaces where young people can learn, grow, explore their faith, and build lifelong connections. ❤️🙏

🍽️ Join us at Texas Roadhouse on Tuesday, June 9th between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM and help make a difference in the lives of children and families at First Congregational Church of West Haven!

📱 Simply present this flyer (printed or on your phone) when you dine in or order takeout, and a portion of your purchase will be donated to our Youth Ministries.

🌟 Your support will help us create brighter, more welcoming, and engaging learning spaces for the children and youth who gather at our church each week. These classroom improvements will provide a place where young people can grow in faith, build friendships, learn God’s love, and create lasting memories.

💙 Every meal purchased helps us invest in the next generation.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Whether you’re enjoying dinner with family, meeting friends, or grabbing takeout, we hope you’ll join us for a great meal and a great cause.

🙏 Thank you for helping us nurture young hearts and minds. We couldn’t do it without you!

📢 Please share this post and help us spread the word!!

📖 A Remarkable Story of West Haven History — and the Man Who Helped Shape It✨

Join us for a special evening with Stephen Hildrich, very knowledgeable in aspects of West Haven history, and a conservationist.
Stephen is the founder of the Concerned Citizens for Bradley Point (1979) and the Land Trust of West Haven (1991). At crucial times, he has worked tirelessly to preserve the public shoreline that generations of West Haven residents have enjoyed, and he has preserved the history and character of that 40 year battle.

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 5:30 PM, Stephen will present his newly completed 450-page documentary history chronicling West Haven’s 40-year struggle to preserve Savin Rock’s shoreline for public use. This extraordinary work brings together newspaper articles, published letters, photographs, 3 important court cases, firsthand accounts, and other important documents of one of the most significant preservation efforts in our city’s history.

📍 First Congregational Church of West Haven
Thursday, June 18, 2025 - 5:30 PM
464 Campbell Avenue, West Haven
Fellowship Hall

During the presentation, Stephen will:

📚 Share the story behind the book and the remarkable events that shaped our shoreline

📜 Display original historical documents and materials

🎁 Donate copies of the book to local organizations and historians, including the Land Trust of West Haven, First Congregational Church of West Haven, and the West Haven Historical Society, and others.

Whether you are a lifelong resident, history enthusiast, preservation advocate, or simply curious about the story behind the shoreline we enjoy today, this is a unique opportunity to learn from someone who lived it, saved the documents, and helped make it happen.

Stephen’s knowledge of West Haven history, especially of the First Congregational Church, where he is Church Historian, is truly extraordinary, and his passion for preserving our community’s heritage is inspiring.

The public is warmly invited to attend. (We regret that this event is inadvertently scheduled at the same time as the WHHS graduation.)

Please share this event with anyone who loves West Haven and its history.

🌱✨ Faith, Fun & Growing Together! ✨🌱

What a wonderful day we had at our Seed Planting Event!🪴🌼We were thrilled to welcome so many families, children, and community members who joined us for an afternoon of creativity, learning, and faith.

Kirsten Vargo, Director of Youth Ministries shared the beautiful Bible story of the mustard seed, reminding us that even the smallest seed can grow into something amazing—just as God can do great things through even the smallest acts of faith.🙏🏻

After the story, the children and adults enjoyed decorating their flower pots and planting flower seeds to take home and nurture. By now, many of those seeds should be beginning to sprout, and we hope our young gardeners are seeing the first signs of growth!🪴

We would love to see how your flowers are doing! 🌼🌷 If your seeds have started to sprout or bloom, please share a photo in the comments or send us a picture. We’d love to celebrate their growth with you.

Because of the overwhelming enthusiasm from our young gardeners and their families, we are already looking forward to doing this again. Stay tuned—we’ll definitely be planning another seed planting event in the future! 🌼🌸

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event such a special day. Watching families learn, create, and grow together is exactly what community is all about.

🎓✨ Celebrating Our Guided by Values Scholarship Recipients ✨🎓

Over the past few weeks, First Congregational Church of West Haven has had the privilege of recognizing two outstanding West Haven High School seniors, Alexia Natalia Cachay-Sosa and Samara Arbour as the recipients of our 2026 Guided by Values Scholarships.

We were honored to attend the West Haven High School Scholarship Awards Night, where we presented each student with a certificate and invited them and their families to join us for a special luncheon at our church.

What they didn’t know was that thanks to the incredible generosity of members of our congregation, the original scholarship awards of $500 each had been doubled to $1,000 each! It was a joy to surprise them with this gift and celebrate their hard work, character, and accomplishments.

At our luncheon, we had the opportunity to spend time with Alexia, Samara, and their families, learn more about their future plans, and present them with their scholarship checks. It was a meaningful day filled with encouragement, gratitude, and hope for the future.

We are so proud of these remarkable young women and look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish in the years ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to our church members whose generosity made it possible to increase these scholarship awards. Your support is helping invest in the next generation and making a lasting impact in the lives of local students.

Congratulations, Alexia and Samara! May God continue to guide your paths as you pursue your dreams and use your gifts to make a difference in the world.

Today is the Day 💙

May 6-7!! The Great Give

I just wanted to take a moment to say… thank you to those who have donated so far 🙏🏻💙

Seeing the support already coming in truly means so much to me — and to the people we serve every week.

This work is really close to our hearts here at First Congregational Church of West Haven

The meals, the diaper drive, the families we meet… it’s real, and it matters.

Our volunteers show up day after day, no questions asked, giving their time, energy, and hearts to serve our community. They work tirelessly behind the scenes and on the front lines—preparing meals, supporting families, and making sure no one feels forgotten. It’s because of them that we’re able to do what we do. We truly live by the words we stand on: seek to serve, love without limits—and our volunteers embody that in every single thing they do.💙🙏🏻

If you’ve been thinking about giving, we would be so grateful if you did.
And if you already have — thank you for being part of this with us!!❤️
