Good morning! Today is Tuesday, October 24, 2023. This is Post #1176.

Prayer of the Day
Sovereign God, raise your throne in our hearts. Created by you, let us live in your image; created for you, let us act for your glory; redeemed by you, let us give you what is yours, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Amen.

Readings and Psalm
Psalm 98 Praise the Judge of the World

Daniel 3: 19-30 The Firey Furnace

Revelation 18: 21-24 The Fall of Babylon

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stayed firm in their faith in God. Being bound and thrown into a super-heated furnace, their devotion to God did not waiver. God saved them in a very public arena. The king could not believe his eyes seeing four men walking around in the furnace. The impossible had occurred, the men who threw them into the fire had died from the heat of the furnace. The appearance of the fourth man, with God-like features, confused everyone there. The king called the three out of the furnace and the rest is history. The God of the Israelites is the one true God. Life is tough, without God being aprt of life, life is tougher. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Share your faith.

BLESSING

The God of glory,

☩ Jesus Christ, name above all names,

and the Spirit who lives in you,

bless you now and forever.

Amen.

Good morning! Today is Monday, October 23, 2023. This is Post #1175.

Daniel 3: 1-18 The Golden Image

Revelation 18: 1-10, 19-20 The Fall of Babylon

What are the “Golden Images” we are called to worship today? Just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we a subtly called to worship those things in our life that are temporary. We tend to look for the easy ways. These three young men took a stand and kept their faith when brought before the king. Their response was one of complete faith that God would deliver them, and they would not worship the Idol. The story continues tomorrow. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Share your faith.

BLESSING

The God of glory,

☩ Jesus Christ, name above all names,

and the Spirit who lives in you,

bless you now and forever.

Amen.

Good morning! Today is Sunday October 22, 2023. This is Post #1174.

Prayer of the Day
Sovereign God, raise your throne in our hearts. Created by you, let us live in your image; created for you, let us act for your glory; redeemed by you, let us give you what is yours, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Amen.

Readings and Psalm
Isaiah 45:1-7 An earthly ruler as the instrument of God’s will

Psalm 96:1-9 [10-13] Ascribe to the Lord honor and power. (Ps. 96:7)

1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 Thanksgiving for the church at Thessalonica

Matthew 22:15-22 A teaching on giving to the emperor and to God

In today’s first reading God uses the Gentile ruler Cyrus to accomplish divine purposes. When the Pharisees try to trap Jesus, he tells them to give the emperor what belongs to him and to God what belongs to God. To gather for worship reminds us that our ultimate allegiance is to God rather than to any earthly authority. Created in the image of God, we offer our entire selves in the service of God and for the sake of the world.

Blessing
The God of glory,

☩ Jesus Christ, name above all names,

and the Spirit who lives in you,

bless you now and forever.

Amen.

Isaiah 14: 3-1 Downfall of the King of Babylon

Matthew 14: 1-12 The Death of John the Baptist

Just the readings today. Medications messing with my though,. hopefully will be clearer tomorrow. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Share your Faith with others.

Good Morning! Today is Friday, October 20, 2023. This is Post #1172.

Prayer of the Day
Lord of the feast, you have prepared a table before all peoples and poured out your life with abundance. Call us again to your banquet. Strengthen us by what is honorable, just, and pure, and transform us into a people of righteousness and peace, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Amen.

Readings and Psalm
Psalm 96: 1-9 Praise to God Who Comes in Judgement

Deuteronomy 17: 14-20 Limitations of Royal Authorities

1Peter 5: 1-5 Tending the Flock of God

While reading our lessons this morning, I began to wonder: What happened? How did we get to where we are today? Is this all part of God’s Plan? Deuteronomy sets limits on the wealth of its leaders; unlike today it is all about the money status. 1 Peter also expands on this and applies it to the leaders of the church. Church leaders are to be examples for the flocks to follow. The congregations take on the personality of its leader. As believers, we are to be steadfast in our faith and stellar in our personal behavior. Limits and examples are important. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Share your Faith with others.

Blessing
The God of glory,

☩ Jesus Christ, name above all names,

and the Spirit who lives in you,

bless you now and forever.

Amen.

Good Morning! Today is THURSDAY, October 19, 2023. This is Post #1171.

Judges 17: 1-6 Micah and the Levite

3 John 9-12 Diotrephes and Demetrius

How do we give praises to God? For many it’s just belonging to a particular church, others it is being involved in church related functions, some it is a lifestyle. The Psalmist give us the reasons we should praise God, from creation to final judgement. We often have difficulties staying focused on the truths of God. In a world so divided and skewed with lies and falsehoods, it is easy to be distracted. 3 John gives us an example on how one person can affect an entire group negatively. We know the difference between right and wrong and yet sometimes fail to hold on to the truth. 3 John 11 tells us what we should do. It will not always be easy. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Share your Faith with others.

Blessing
The God of glory,

☩ Jesus Christ, name above all names,

and the Spirit who lives in you,

bless you now and forever.

Amen.

Good Morning! Today is Wednesday, October 18, 2023. This is Post #1170.

Prayer of the Day
Almighty God, you inspired your servant Luke to reveal in his gospel the love and healing power of your Son. Give your church the same love and power to heal, and to proclaim your salvation among the nations to the glory of your name, through Jesus Christ, your Son, our healer, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

Readings and Psalm
Isaiah 43:8-13 I am savior, and you are my witnesses

Psalm 124 Our help is in the name of the Lord. (Ps. 124:8)

2 Timothy 4:5-11 The good fight of faith; Luke is with me

Luke 1:1-4; 24:44-53 Luke witnesses to the ministry of Jesus

From the visit of Mary to Elizabeth’s house; through the visits of Jesus to Zacchaeus’s house, Mary and Martha’s house, and Levi’s house; to the visit of the risen Christ to Cleopas’s house, Luke’s gospel is a story of God’s hospitality. God is guest and host, and Jesus’ meal fellowship is a proclamation of God’s inner circle of outsiders, a gathering not of the righteous but of those who have received God’s mercy.

Blessing
The God of glory,

☩ Jesus Christ, name above all names,

and the Spirit who lives in you,

bless you now and forever.

Amen.

Readings and Psalm
Psalm 34 Praise for Deliverance from Trouble

Amos 9: 5-15 The Restoration of David’s Kingdom

Philippians 3: 13-4:1 Pressing Towards the Goal

Not a day goes by that I have to face the temptations of the world. Every day there is a challenge to either do that which is right or to cave into the pressures that surround me. Paul reminds me that there is much more to following Christ than lip-service. I struggle daily to keep calm when the kids are being difficult. To consider what the other person is going through when they seem to be going out of their way to upset me. Yes, this is the world we live in and it is not easy. Philippians 3:17 is encouraging. Don’t fall into the traps. Stay strong in the faith and when failures come, confess it to the Lord and start again. God who is merciful and just will forgive our ins if we truly repent. Eternity is a long time. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Share your Faith with others.

Blessing
The God of glory,

Readings and Psalm
Psalm 34 Praise for Deliverance from Trouble

Exodus 19: 7-20 Israelites Reach Mount Sinai/ The People Consecrated

Jude 17-25 Warnings and Exhortations

As we reel from the daily news feeds and the negativity of so many angry people, our lessons today encourage us to remain faithful to the Lord. Our Psalm 34: 13 & 14, give us some very sound advice as to our personal behavior. Jude gives us advice on dealing with scoffers and ungodly. Verse 20 & 21 sums this advice up better than my words ever could. We live in difficult times with our instant news feeds and constant media blitz on the happenings of the world. Quick decisions are made without the benefit of discernment and often times, these decisions are in error. Open your hearts to the will of God and listen for the Spirit to guide you. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Share your Faith with others.

Blessing
The God of glory,

Readings and Psalm
Isaiah 25:1-9 The feast of victory

Psalm 23 You prepare a table before me, and my cup is running over. (Ps. 23:5)

Philippians 4:1-9 Rejoice in the Lord always

Matthew 22:1-14 The parable of the unwelcome guest at the wedding feast

In Isaiah we are given a vision of the great feast to come, when God will wipe away death forever. In Jesus’ parable about a great banquet, those invited do not come, so the invitation is extended to others. In our liturgy God spreads a table before us. Even amid anxiety and hardship we rejoice in the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. With great joy we feast at the table of the Lord, and we go forth to share the wonderful invitation with others hungering and thirsting for the abundant life of God.

Blessing
The God of glory,

and the Spirit who lives in you,

bless you now and forever.

Readings and Psalm
Psalm 23 The Divine Shepherd

Isaiah 24: 17-23 Impending Judgement on the Earth

Mark 2: 18-22 Th Question about Fasting

When we hear the news or read the newspapers and see what is happening in our world today it is quite frightening. Many loose hope and just stop believing that God cares about his creation. Some even pray for end-times to come, not truly realizing what they are asking. God gives us all ample opportunity to assist in changing a world full of hate and lies around to one which cares for the people, animals and environment. The end will come, when? Only God knows. Everyone else s just guessing. In the present time, we must keep trying to do God’s will and take care of what and who we have. REMEMBER: Love God … Love your neighbor. Live your faith.
