TOPIC: Learn From Others

MEMORIZE: The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. – Ecclesiastes 1:9 (KJV)

11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 39-40

MESSAGE:
Today’s memory verse says that there is nothing new under the sun. This means that if you are trying to achieve something, someone else has achieved the same thing or something similar before. Therefore, if you study that person and follow the principles the fellow lived by and the steps he or she took, you should also achieve the same result. This is why you must make it a habit to learn from the people you admire and seek to emulate. When you study their lifestyles and actions and add your knowledge and experience to that, you will be positioned to achieve even greater things than they did.

I always tell my children who want to be like me, “While everyone is focusing on the glory, pay attention to the story.” God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34); whatever He has done for me, He is ready to do for anyone if they follow the principles I follow. When I became a Christian, I devoted quality time to studying the lives of the people who inspired me in the Bible, as I wanted to emulate them. For example, I spent three years studying Elijah. I loved Elijah because he was a man who could say a short prayer, and fire would fall. I loved his audacity and saw that the principles that powered his life were a devoted prayer altar and an unwavering focus on his God-given assignment. After studying Elijah for three years, I discovered Elisha, a man who possessed a double portion of Elijah’s spirit, and I shifted my focus to studying him for several years as well. I have also studied Paul because he was a scholar (Acts 22:3), and he was mightily anointed. Studying the lives of these men has shown me what I must do to remain eternally relevant in God’s plan.

Beloved, God has put numerous men and women in His word for you to study and emulate. Additionally, there are also people you can learn from in the present and in recent history. Don’t deprive yourself of the wealth of knowledge and wisdom you can glean from studying others. Learn from their successes and even their failures and mistakes so you can know how to avoid the same or similar errors. I pray that the Almighty God will point you towards great men and women you can learn from who will help you to fulfil your glorious destiny in Him, in Jesus’ name.

KEY POINT
When you study others, you will glean and gather wisdom for living.

TOPIC: Holiness And Divine Blessings

1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 36-38

MESSAGE
I always tell my children that holiness is doing whatever God says wholeheartedly and promptly. When He says, “Sit down, I respond immediately, “Yes, Lord.” When He says, “Stand,” my response is, “Yes, Lord.” When He says, “Eat,” I do not hesitate before saying, “Yes, Lord,” and when He says, “Fast,” my response is still “Yes, Lord”, and I’ll start immediately. Just do what God asks wholeheartedly and promptly, then leave the rest to Him-that is all holiness is.

It is an aberration for a person to be holy and die in poverty. That is why I do not focus on preaching about prosperity; instead, I focus on preaching about holiness. When you are truly holy, there will be times when God will give you instructions that will lead to receiving blessings from Him if you obey Him. However, anyone who decides to argue with God at such times will miss out on the blessing He has prepared for him or her. That is why David said in Psalm 37:25:

“I have been young and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

In today’s Bible reading, Jesus needed a boat to preach to the multitude of people who had gathered, as they wanted to hear the word of God from Him. He got into Peter’s boat and asked him to move a little away from the land. Peter’s response was, “Yes, Lord.” After the Lord finished His sermon, He turned to Peter and asked him to launch out into the deep. For lending his boat to the Lord, God wanted to reward Peter, and the reward came in a massive way. Before Jesus came on the scene, Peter was battling with failure and frustration; he had toiled all night and caught nothing. However, the moment he told Jesus ‘yes’ and released his boat to the Lord, he put himself in position for a windfall of God’s blessing. He caught so many fishes that his net broke. His blessing was so great that his neighbours partook in it; both Peter’s ship and his neighbours’ were so filled with fishes that they began to sink.

Beloved, you cannot live a life of holiness, which can be seen through your obedience to God, and be frustrated or stranded. When you obey God in everything, He will respond by blessing you in every area of your life.

PRAYER POINT
Father, please help me to obey all Your instructions promptly and wholeheartedly, in Jesus’ Amen!

PRAYER POINTS
1 Father, I thank You for all our leaders. Thank You for preserving and protecting them as they bear the responsibility of leadership.
2 Father, please make our leaders wise and understanding people who love Your will and the people. Let them know Your will and establish Your purposes in their spheres of authority, in Jesus’ name.
3 Father, please strengthen our leaders in body, mind, and spirit. Help them to bear the burden of leadership effectively, in Jesus’ name.
4 Lord, please reveal Yourself to those in authority who are yet to experience Your glory. Let them encounter You and surrender to Your leadership, in Jesus’ name.
5 Father, please let a revival break out among our leaders. Help those who are not living and acting according to Your will to repent, in Jesus’ name.
6 Lord, please surround everyone in authority with God-fearing counsellors and advisers, in Jesus’ name.
7 Father, please help our leaders to be selfless and incorruptible, in Jesus’ name.

MESSAGE
Many years ago, God asked me what kind of pastor I wanted to be. He asked, “Do you want to be the best or the worst?” I told Him that I want to be the best. He asked further if l want to be the poorest or the richest, and I said that I want to be the richest. I have experienced being poor, and I can tell you that it is not good. For instance, for the first 18 years of my life, I had no pair of shoes because my parents could not afford any.
Shortly after God asked me what kind of pastor I wanted to be, I was at a church gathering, and it was time to give our offerings. Suddenly, God repeated the question He had asked me earlier, and I replied, “The greatest, the best, and the richest.” Then, He said, “Give Me the biggest currency note in your pocket.” That was hard, because it was a lot of money. I almost shouted, “Get behind me, satan,” but I know God’s voice, so I stammered, “Yes, yes, Lord.” Not long after that, there was another gathering, and He asked the same question again. I gave the same answer, and He said, “Double what you have been giving Me,” so I doubled it. Not long after that, He asked me to triple it. I did, and then He began to act.

Every day, different people would approach me to give me something, so I started to expect it. One day, I was about to sleep when I remembered that no one had approached me to give me anything. I told God, “Daddy, I didn’t receive Your messenger today. Nobody gave me anything today.” Around midnight, somebody knocked on my door and said, “Sir, God asked me to give you this.” I asked the fellow how he could be out that late, and he said, “I know that the God who sent me to you will take care of me.”

Beloved, let me ask you, “What kind of Christian would you like to be, a poor one or a rich one?” I want you to trust God and let Him prove Himself in your life as the Almighty Supplier. Give to Him continually out of the resources He has blessed you with, and I can assure you that a time will come when you will say to Him, “God, are these blessings not becoming too much?”

TOPIC: Trading With God (1)

MEMORIZE: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. – Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

1 Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

2 But I have built an house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever.

3 And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood.

4 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who hath with his hands fulfilled that which he spake with his mouth to my father David, saying,

5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:

6 But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

7 Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

8 But the LORD said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thine heart:

9 Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.

10 The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

11 And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, that he made with the children of Israel.

14 And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:

15 Thou which hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him; and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 28-30

MESSAGE
Some years ago, a member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International declared that he would cover the cost of every evangelistic programme held in his chapter throughout that year, and everyone agreed. Later that year, the man shared the testimonies about what the Lord had done for him as a result of his giving, and the other members of the fellowship were truly amazed. Then, he offered to cover all the costs of the chapter’s evangelistic programmes for the next year, but other members of the fellowship said in unison, “No way!” They also wanted to partake of the blessings that come with giving and didn’t want the man to enjoy them alone.
In today’s Bible reading, we read that Solomon sowed a thousand burnt offerings as a sacrifice to God, and that night, God appeared to him and asked what he wanted. Solomon asked for the gift of wisdom. God granted his request and also gave him unparalleled riches, wealth, and honour. Solomon was so blessed that the Bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:5 that when he gave another offering, he sacrificed 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep!

One of the many beautiful things about trading with God is that God can never owe any man. If you give Him something, He will repay you monumentally. Nobody trades with God and suffers a loss. Hebrews 11:6 calls Him a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. John 6:5-13 tells us the story of a boy who offered his five loaves of bread and two small fishes for Jesus to feed the multitudes. What happened next was that he witnessed one of the greatest miracles of all time, as he watched his tiny lunch multiply to feed thousands. Apart from that, he also received twelve baskets of leftover food, which l believe were given to him since it was his lunch that was used to feed the multitude. A child who came with a little lunch pack suddenly needed the help of adults to carry baskets of food back to his house.

Beloved, Ephesians 3:20 says that God can do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think. This clearly shows that you can never trade with God and become worse for it. Whatever you give to God will be given back to you in multiple folds, far beyond your wildest imagination.

KEY POINT
Nobody trades with God and suffers a loss.

TOPIC: The Law Of Harvest

37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 25-27

MESSAGE
The law of harvest is one of the most powerful laws created by God. It states that ‘whatever a person sows is what he or she will reap’ (Galatians 6:7), and it is so powerful that God applied it to Himself when He wanted more children. John 12:24 says a corn of wheat must first be sown into the ground and die before it can bring forth much fruit. So God sowed His only begotten son (Jesus Christ), so that He might gain many more children, and Jesus would become the firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8:29).

Many years ago, there was a man in Nigeria who would hand out cash to people randomly wherever he went. People followed him everywhere he went because they knew that he would give them money. Some people wondered if he was mad, but he wasn’t; he only discovered that the more he gave out money, the more he received. Anyone who truly discovers the secret of the law of harvest would never be begged to give.

The law of harvest is so powerful that when a person sows a seed of kindness or wickedness, the fellow will harvest what he or she has sown in bountiful folds. Nobody sows a grain of corn and harvests a grain; if you sow a grain of corn, the least harvest you can expect is a cob of corn with many grains. Job 4:8 says “…they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.”People who spend their time scheming to harm others will eventually fall into the traps they created. Likewise, if you sow kindness, you will reap an abundance of kindness. Hosea 10:12 says that when people sow in righteousness, they will reap in mercy.

Beloved, one thing you must constantly sow as a believer is good works. Dorcas could never have known that the harvest of her good works towards the widows in her community would come in the form of her being resurrected from the dead (Acts 9:36-42) – that is another mystery about the law of harvest. Today’s Bible reading tells us that whatever is sown often returns in another form because God gives the seed a body as He pleases. Dorcas’ seed of kindness returned in a bigger, better form as God’s gift of resurrection. Keep sowing good works, and watch God repay you in ways beyond your wildest imagination.

KEY POINT
You will reap what you sow; therefore, sow good works everywhere you go.
