West Hartford United Methodist Church Coming Alive Together in Christ The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

What We Believe

United Methodists profess the historic Christian faith in God, incarnate in Jesus Christ for our salvation and ever at work in human history in the Holy Spirit. Living in a covenant of grace under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we participate in the first fruits of God's coming reign and pray in hope for its full realization on earth as in heaven. Local churches provide the most s

ignificant arena through which disciple-making occurs. The United Methodist Church has a long history of concern for social justice. Its members have often taken forthright positions on controversial issues involving Christian principles. Early Methodists expressed their opposition to the slave trade, to smuggling, and to the cruel treatment of prisoners. We have a rich understanding of what we believe, and because we are a connectional church in nature. If you wish to read more about the United Methodist's beliefs, mission, and social justice then we invite you to follow this link to the United Methodist Church website. West Hartford United Methodist Church will be holding a FOOD DRIVE the months of January - March 2025.
At this time of year the donations that were received from Thanksgiving through Christmas have been given out. Many are struggling to heat their homes during the winter months in addition to feeding their families, providing medical care, and other expenses and must turn to the Food Pantry for help. Our donations, no matter how small, are a blessing to those in need.
The most needed items continue to be NON-PERISHABLE, UNOPENED/UNEXPIRED foods including spaghetti, pasta sauce, soups, peanut butter (16-18 oz.,) canned fruit, applesauce, rice (1-2lb packages,) cereal, crackers, canned protein such as tuna and chicken, and shelf stable milk which is needed to make boxed macaroni & cheese and is used with cereal. Of course other things such as toiletries, tissues, and the like are also accepted at any time.
Items may be dropped in the bin by the front door of the church 24/7/365 or on the table just inside the front door when the church is open.
We also accept donations of pet food and supplies such as canned dog and cat food, kitty litter, kibble, leashes, and toys that are new or are in excellent condition. People who struggle to feed their families also struggle to feed their fur babies. These donations go to No Animal left unfed, a food pantry of pet foods and other necessities for the fur babies.
