Going to church is so good for you…
1) A study at Harvard’s School of Public Health found that regular church attendance by husbands and wives reduces a couple’s risk of divorce by 47 percent.
2) Psychologist Jonathan Haidt on the benefits of religious participation: “Surveys have long shown that religious believers in the US are happier, healthier, longer-lived, and more generous to charity and to each other than are secular people.” By the way, Haidt is an atheist.
3) In a study of medical workers who attend worship services to those who don’t attend, attenders were 29% less likely to be depressed, 50% less likely to experience divorce, and 5x less likely to commit su***de.
4) The Center for Research on Men’s Health at Vanderbilt found that middle-aged (ages 40 to 65) adults who attend church reduce their risk for mortality by 55 percent.
5) Duke University, in a study of 1,700 adults, 65 and over, researchers learned that those who attend church at least once a week have healthier immune systems than those who don’t.
The Hebrew writer said it this way: “Do not neglect the meeting together…” (Hebrews 10:25)
Thanks to Mark Atherton for the list.
