This Sunday is the Kosen-Rufu Shodai Ceremony at Myogyoji Temple.

Kosen-Rufu Shodai is when we chant together for one hour for the sake of world peace through the teachings of True Buddhism. This ceremony is conducted at all Nichiren Shoshu temples around the world on the same day 🌎

Following chanting, Chief Priest Reverend Hirano will read guidance from the High Priest. It is a wonderful opportunity to understand the purpose of this Buddhist practice, both for ourselves and others.

This Sunday, Myogyoji Temple will hold the most important monthly ceremony in Nichiren Shoshu, the Oko Ceremony. It is the ceremony in which we express our gratitude to our founder, Nichiren Daishonin, for teaching us the correct Buddhist practice that allows us to attain enlightenment, or true happiness.

The ceremony will begin with a food offering to the Three Treasures. We will then perform ceremonial Gongyo, a recitation of a portion of the Lotus Sutra, and receive an in-depth lecture from our Chief Priest about a passage of Nichiren Daishonin’s teachings. The Oko Ceremony is a wonderful opportunity to learn about True Buddhism. All are welcome to attend!
