Beginning this Sunday, Myogyoji Temple will hold an Introduction Meeting every Sunday at 1:30pm through the month of September!
For anyone interested in finding out more about Buddhism, this is a great opportunity to learn about our Buddhist practice directly from a Nichiren Shoshu Priest.

We will begin with a slow Evening Gongyo (recitation of a portion of the Lotus Sutra) and then receive an introductory lecture from Chief Priest Reverend Hirano.
There will then be a Question &
Answer session during which you can freely ask anything you would like to know.
The meeting will conclude by 3:00pm.

Join us this Sunday at Myōgyōji Temple!

This Sunday is the Kosen-rufu Shodai Ceremony, during which Nichiren Shoshu Priests and members at each temple around the globe pray for world peace.
We will begin at 10am with a recitation of a portion of the Lotus Sutra, followed by one hour of chanting Daimoku.
We will then hear guidance from the High Priest.
All are welcome to attend this wonderful opportunity to pray together for lasting world peace 🌎

This Sunday, Myogyoji Temple will hold the monthly Okyobi Ceremony. All are welcome to attend!

The Okyobi Ceremony is a group memorial ceremony where we have the opportunity to offer prayers for the enlightenment of deceased ancestors and friends. Through our prayers we also express our gratitude to them, because without the efforts of our ancestors, we wouldn’t be alive today.

The ceremony will begin at 10am and will consist of ceremonial Gongyo and incense offering. We will then have a New Believers Meeting.

Afterwards, there will be a Young Adults Meeting at 12 PM led by Assistant Priest Rev. Nakamura.

Myogyoji Temple will hold the monthly Oko Ceremony this Sunday, August 9 at 10am.
The Oko Ceremony is the most significant monthly ceremony in Nichiren Shoshu, when we express our gratitude to the Three Treasures, study the writings of Nichiren Daishonin, and deepen our faith together.

During this month’s Oko, our Chief Priest will teach us about a passage from the Gosho “Letter to Soya Nyudo”.

Following the Oko Ceremony will be the monthly Children’s Meeting.
This month, the children will learn about karma from Assistant Priest Rev. Nakamura and engage in a themed art activity before eating lunch together.

Join us Sunday for the Kosen-Rufu Shodai Ceremony at Myogyoji Temple.

In this ceremony, we gather under the guidance of the High Priest to chant for world peace through the teachings of True Buddhism. When we unite in prayer for the happiness of all people and the realization of Kosen-Rufu, we each contribute to a changing the world, one sincere prayer at a time. Together with Nichiren Shoshu temples around the world, we take part in this monthly ceremony on the same day.

Following the ceremony, Chief Priest Reverend Hirano will share guidance from the High Priest, offering encouragement and insight for our daily Buddhist practice.

Whether you practice regularly or are visiting for the first time, all are welcome.
