HAPPY TU B’AV!!!!

Yes, it is Tu B’Av on Shabbat, August 9! A day meant to share our feelings with each other!

The Talmud tells us that the “daughters of Jerusalem would go dance in the vineyards” and wear white on Tu B’Av, and whoever did not have a wife would go there to find a bride. The Talmud considered this day the greatest festival of the year, with Yom Kippur a close second.

It is customary to tell people the positive things you feel about them. So on behalf of our shul, please know that we love each and every one of you!!! Each of you is special and a treasure to us! Happy Tu B’Av!

So, I’m looking forward to seeing you at shul tomorrow, whether you are wearing white or not.

Tu B’Av also tells us that we are 45 days from Rosh Hashanah, and it is the first day we can begin to wish each other a ketivah vachatimah tovah. Speaking of love, you are going to LOVE our High Holiday services this year - and we are going to love seeing you there!

THIS WEEK AT OUR SHUL

Come join us at shul this New Year weekend!

Welcome Shabbat by joining our Friday Kabbalat Shabbat service at 6 pm. We always have a wonderful and meaningful service in the chapel.

This Shabbat we are so fortunate to have Rabbi Rob Dobrusin as our guest rabbi! Rabbi Dobrusin is always so inspiring and we are grateful that he will be joining us this Shabbat. Services start at 9:30 am. After enjoying what will be a wonderful service, please join us for a delicious Kiddush luncheon, featuring your shul favorites and warm company and conversation.

On Sunday and Monday mornings, we will be joining B’nai Moshe at their synagogue for morning minyan at 8:30 am. Please join us to start off the New Year!

Our shul has been selected to participate in Kulanu, an 8-month program dedicated to empowering congregations to address antisemitism and hate in their communities through education, community engagement and advocacy, sponsored by the ADL and USCJ. If you are interested in being part of the working group to oversee the Kulanu programming, please let me know - at shul or at [email protected].

We have so much coming up for our members - it’s a great time to be at B’nai Israel of West Bloomfield!
