SO proud of our backyard missionary teams!

It is incredible how a simple hug from a grandma in Jesus' name will impact someone's life.

Last Sunday, these amazing people from New Vintage Church pulled heaven down to earth at the A La Carte street fair as they prayed for, hugged, encouraged, and shared the Gospel with many people.

Way to go, teams!

We've all heard that before, especially during this time of the year.

In response, I have a little story to share.

A father has three small children who love playing in the front yard. The yard is fenced in, and there's a gate that leads directly to a busy street.

Every day, Dad looks out the window to make sure that gate stays closed.

Why?

Because he loves his children.

A loving father doesn't say, "If you want to run into traffic, that's your choice. I support whatever makes you happy."

No.

Love warns.

Love protects.

Love establishes boundaries.

Love says, "I know there's danger on the other side of that gate."

In the same way, God has given us boundariesโ€”

not because He wants to restrict our joy,

but because He wants to protect us from destruction.

The Bible teaches that God's ways lead to life.

Our ways often lead to regret.

That's true whether we're talking about

greed,

bitterness,

pride,

sexual sin,

drunkenness,

unforgiveness,

adultery,

gossip,

selfishness,

or any other area where we choose our desires over God's design.

Have you heard of the theory called six degrees of separation? The idea is that every person on the earth is connected to every other person through a small handful of relationships.

What does this have to do with Memorial Day? Well, if you've never personally lost someone who gave their life in the line of duty, you know someone who knows someone who carries that grief every single day.

That said, if you happen to be grieving, comfort is available. If you know someone who is grieving, you can be an agent of God's comfort to them. And if you don't know anyone who is grieving, you can pray.

In addition to all of this, you can be thankful. One reason why is because many of the freedoms we enjoy today as Americans are made possible because a veteran gave his life in the line of duty. Another reason why is found in the main passage of this video.

2:40 - Pastor Paul begins the message by explaining what the theory of six degrees of separation is. He also plays a video to ensure that everyone has a robust understanding of the theory.

5:41 - Real-world examples from the note sheet are read and the congregation is encouraged to picture in their minds the examples.

12:21 - As the main passage is read, insights are also provided, one of them being that loving Jesus and obeying are intrinsically linked.

16:22 - The motive behind obeying Jesus is found in verse 11. We obey so that Jesus' joy may be us and our joy will be made complete. Wow!

21:00 - A great way to explain what we were set free from when we gave our lives to Jesus is by memorizing that we are/will be set free from the penalty, power, and presence of sin.

27:34 - John chapter 3 and verse 16 is explained. A part of that verse makes mention of the term "eternal life." Eternal life in the here and now which can be described as a peace that passes all understanding, a hope that will never disappoint, and a joy that is glorious.

33:02 - The third way that we can say, "thank you" to veterans who died in the line of duty is to simply pray.

In our post-COVID-19 world, our worship services look different than weโ€™ve ever experienced. Yet in the middle of all the changes, there are still some things that havenโ€™t changed. This is a time to celebrate the God who never changes. IN HONOR OF OVERTURNING ROE V. WADE... LAST YEAR'S MEMORIAL CHANGED LIVES. โœ๏ธ

Last year, New Vintage Church held our very first โ€œMemorial of the Unbornโ€ on the north lawn of the church, in honor of the overturning of Roe v. Wade on June 24th, 2022

Dozens upon dozens of white crosses stood as silent reminders of lives lost... but also as powerful symbols of grace, forgiveness, healing, and hope. ๐Ÿค

People from the community came throughout the day.

* Some left flowers.

* Some stood quietly in tears.

* Some received prayer, counseling, and healing.

Freedom from shame and condemnation. Healing from deep wounds that were carried for years and decades.

This memorial is NOT about judgment.

It is NOT about condemnation.

Rather, it is about truth AND grace. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

It is about mourning what was lost.

It is about standing for life.

It is about healing from regret.

It is about the forgiveness that only Jesus can bring.

We all can relate to how heavy emotional pressure can be.

What do I mean by this?

Emotional pressure can be described as:

* Every red light being a comparison contest due to needing to feel accomplished - "Nice Jeep, peasant!"

* The family reunion being a silent competition to avoid feeling judged - "Living my best life."

* Measuring your life against highlight reels due to low sense of self-worth - "Sorry you're jealous."

* Keeping up with the Jones' so as to not appear unsuccessful - "Buy expensive stuff you can't afford to impress those you don't care about."

* Volunteering for the recognition - "Serving... because somebody has to around here."

* Turning the conversation back to yourself - "Enough about me. Let's talk about me."

* Not being able to celebrate another's accomplishment due to being insecure - "Must be nice."

The root issue to all of this? Pride. And there's a cost involved.

So, what's the answer? Well, the answer is found in this video. Check it out and get set free from the weightiness of emotional pressure.

3:23 - The object lesson utilizing the heavy tire and wheel is utilized in order to drive the point home that we can all relate to how heavy emotional pressure is.

8:48 - The root issue to all of these examples is pride and there's a cost involved. Pastor Paul provides examples, one of them being easily offended.

12:46 - A prayer is given, and then some background and context before reading the main passage.

18:23 - The reading of the passage is delivered along with some insight.

22:07 - In verse nine, Paul uses the imagery of a Roman army gaining victory over the enemy in a battle, and the ensuing parade.

27:06 - The first takeaway was inspired by verse seven. Everything good in your life was received, not self-created. There's no need to become prideful about anything in your life.

33:02 - The third takeaway was inspired by verses 9 and 10. Following Jesus means pursuing meekness over self-promotion, status, or recognition.

37:45 - The big climactic point to the whole message: meekness makes the burden of prideful emotional pressure light. The pressure to feel accomplished, to feel successful, to be recognized, to feel validated, to feel secure... gone!

In our post-COVID-19 world, our worship services look different than weโ€™ve ever experienced. Yet in the middle of all the changes, there are still some things that havenโ€™t changed. This is a time to celebrate the God who never changes. As we remember how He helped us in the past, we can step forward in faith, in confidence, knowing that He will also see us through each new difficulty that enters into our life. Life can be burdensome. And a mother's burden is unique. How is that?

Because the burdens that mothers carry are ones they can't put down.

Burdens regarding their children's faith, blended families, divorce, the military, dysfunction, addiction...

And there are times when the burden is simply too hard to carry. When that happens, what's the answer?

The answer is found in the story of Hannah in the Bible. Let's learn from her.

2:49 - What changes so profoundly when a woman becomes a mother? Their burdens change. At this point, some examples are given. The burden of a blended family, a grandmother praying for her live-in grandchildren, a single mother with a career...

7:42 - A prayer is delivered and then some background is provided before the reading of the main passage. Hannah was part of ancient Israel many centuries prior to Jesus coming onto the scene.

11:20 - The main passage is read, along with some insight. The first scene began at verse nine.

16:16 - The takeaway for scene two is given: God sees your burden and will respond in His perfect timing.

23:58 - The takeaway for scene three is given: Faith means trusting God with your burden. It means surrender.

27:51 - The congregation is encouraged to read through Psalm 37 in the coming days. Then, Pastor Paul reads through verses 4-6 and provides insight into those verses.

32:18 - After providing the reading of the main passage, providing insight and delivering takeaways, the point is made that God's answer is not the removal of your burden. Rather, His answer is that through relationship with Jesus, the burden becomes light.

36:37 - One of the practical ways to allow God to carry your burden on His shoulders instead of yours is that of replacing panic with prayer.

In our post-COVID-19 world, our worship services look different than weโ€™ve ever experienced. Yet in the middle of all the changes, there are still some things that havenโ€™t changed. This is a time to celebrate the God who never changes. 05/05/2026

Living for applause, accolades, praise, approval, likes... not good. Why not?

Because when the applause stops, when there are less likes, when fishing for complements yields no results, your self-worth deflates.

This is bad because you are not being your authentic self, you compromise your convictions, your self-worth is wrapped up n others' opinions, you miss opportunities to be used by God, and you could resent someone.

Let's explore what the Bible has to teach about this and seek approval from the only One who is ultimately deserving of giving it.

5:05 - The message begins with an object lesson involving a balloon being inflated and then deflated. This prop is sure to make the point very memorable.

10:29 - The eighth and final example of living for applause is that of the retired reputation keeper. Said keeper is hesitant to be transparent and vulnerable in their community regarding how their children or grandchildren are doing.

15:02 - Pastor Paul prays and then provides some background behind the main passage. Then, he reads the passage and provides commentary as he reads.

18:54 - At this point in the main passage, we learn that we must prove ourselves faithful to what God has entrusted to us.

24:20 - Verse six is read. The interpretation is, "Church, I am leading by example. Don't be ill-affected by others' opinions of you as you make a stand for Jesus."

26:22 - The first takeaway is inspired by verses 2 and 3. If you're controlled by others' opinions of you, you may not be faithful with what God has given you to "KNOW Jesus, GROW in your love for Him, and GO share your story."

29:30 - The second takeaway is inspired by the last few words of verse three as well as verse four. You should examine yourself, yet, just know that your judgment may be skewed.

33:26 - The third takeaway is inspired by verse five. The apostle Paul's point regarding Jesus' return is both sobering and hope-filled.
