From Promises to Fulfilled Covenants

God made promises to Abraham in Genesis about his lineage, and He gave the Ten Commandments to Moses in Exodus. He made a covenant to David in 2 Samuel, and declared a New Covenant to come in the book of Jeremiah (Jeremiah 31:31-34).

All of those stories point to the arrival of Jesus Christ—where all God's covenant promises are fulfilled (2 Corinthians 1:20).

These stories remind us of God’s faithfulness (Romans 15:4). We don't have to look very far to see:

"That the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."
Deuteronomy 7:9

God's love is faithful; it's constant. It endures through the generations. In a world where love is often conditional and transactional, given and withdrawn based on our actions, God's love stands apart. It's not tethered to the ups and downs of our circumstances. It doesn't waver with our feelings. And it certainly doesn't hinge on our performance.

God's love is firmly rooted in His unchanging character.

So even if you're on the highest mountaintop of success or in the deepest valley of despair, His love remains constant—an ever-present source of strength for those who love Him.

Today, let the words of Deuteronomy 7:9 sink deep into your soul and remember: Our God is not distant or indifferent. He is near, and His love is faithful—enduring through a thousand generations.

Pray with me
September 12, 2026

Father, You alone are worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.

You are the Lord Most High, the Maker of heaven and earth. “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised” (Psalm 145:3). Before the mountains were formed, before the stars filled the heavens, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God (Psalm 90:2).

I praise You for Your holiness. There is none like You. You are righteous in all Your ways, faithful in every promise, abundant in mercy, and steadfast in love. Your mercies are new every morning, and great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23).

I praise You for Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain and who lives forevermore. Through Him I have redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and peace with You. Jesus, You are King of kings and Lord of lords. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that You are Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).

Holy Spirit, thank You for dwelling within Your people, leading us into truth, strengthening us in weakness, and continually pointing our hearts toward Christ.

Today I will bless the Lord at all times. Let Your praise continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1). Whether the day brings abundance or difficulty, laughter or tears, I choose to declare: You are good. You are faithful. You are sovereign. You are worthy.

Let everything within me praise Your holy name.

“For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11:36)

In the mighty name of Jesus,
Amen.

Speak life over people. Remind them of who they are. Pray over them. Give them grace when they need it. Be a voice God uses in their life. In a world where the enemy is constantly speaking lies, choose to speak life over them.

“Speaking life” simply means to speak out of a pure motive, with the intention of benefitting the hearer of your words. The Bible says, “out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). This means that the words we say are clear reflections of our hearts. If we speak poison or hostility, it is a pretty good indicator that our hearts are full of bitterness. If we speak with honesty and gentleness, it indicates that we have godly and wise hearts.

To speak life, you must be wise. Those who are dead set on foolishness will refuse to see the value of wisdom. To truly be wise, you’ve got to develop a deep respect for the Lord—or, as the Bible calls it, “The fear of the Lord” (Proverbs 1:7).

The book of Proverbs is perhaps one of the best books to teach wisdom. Proverbs 15:33 says, “The fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.” Indeed, there are no shortcuts to speaking life. We can fake our kindness and gild our words with gold, but our vain efforts will eventually fall through if we don’t match our words with what’s really in our hearts. To sustain a lifestyle of speaking life unto others, we must always start with the heart.

Teach yourselves to respect and fear the Lord by meditating on His word daily. Remind yourselves of His goodness in your lives by reflecting on the many times He has pulled you through. Pray to Him as much as you can so that you will have a deeper relationship with Him. Whether you’re in the workplace or in your bedroom, be aware of His presence surrounding you. All of these thoughtful actions will give you more knowledge of the Lord and will help you to love and respect Him all the more. Once you’ve developed a deep respect for the Lord, you will want to love and treat His children in a godlier way.

Don’t let your faith end at the church doors.

The world doesn’t need more people who simply attend services. It needs people who carry the heart of Jesus into everyday life.

Be the Church in the way you speak.
In the way you forgive.
In the way you love people who can offer you nothing in return.

Because sermons can inspire people for a moment,
but a life that reflects Christ can impact someone forever.

So after the final song ends and the lights go off,
keep preaching the Gospel with the way you live.

Be the Church beyond the walls. 🤍🙏🏻

The primary foundational scripture for the renewed mind is Romans 12:2, which commands believers not to conform to the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds to prove God's will. This mental transformation aligns closely with having the "mind of Christ" found in Philippians 2:5.

Sometimes, people think that they are not important to God. They want to do things to help the church, but they think that the things they do are not important.
Sometimes, they just give up because they feel sad.

Some people think they are too old to help the church. “I’m just one old woman,” they might say. “There’s nothing I can do to help except sew clothes for poor people.”

Kids sometimes think they are too young to help the church. “I’m just a little kid. No one expects me to help the church. I can only do little things like come to Sunday School.”

Some people might think that their actions are unimportant, so they stop helping the church. “I can only do little things like vacuuming the floor or straightening the song books,” they say. “No one will notice if I don’t do those little things. Those little things don’t help the church anyway.”

Sometimes, people are sad because they think their church is too small. They say, “No one will want to come to my church. It is too small.”

Some of the people who followed Jesus thought those things, too. Jesus wanted to teach the people something new. He wanted them to know that everything we do to help others is important. The big things are important, and the little things are important. Sometimes, we do a little thing, and it ends up making a BIG difference.

Jesus wanted the people to understand this important truth, so he told them a parable about a seed. A seed is a beginning. A seed is often very small, and it looks like it could never be anything important. Seeds look like they are small and not important, but seeds are only the beginning of something. A very small seed can grow into something very big.

The parable Jesus told was about a mustard. He said that once, a man planted a very tiny mustard seed in his garden. It was a very small seed, but it was only the beginning. As time passed, the seed grew into a little plant.

It grew more and more every day. As the years went by, the plant became a big tree. Birds would come and sit on the tree’s branches.

Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed. Things might look very small at the beginning, but just wait – someday, they can be very, very, very big! Just keep doing the little things, and God will make them grow.

So, are the things older people do too small? No, remember the mustard seed!

Are kids too little to help the church? No, remember the mustard seed!

Should we stop doing little jobs like vacuuming and straightening songbooks? No, remember the mustard seed!

Should we give up because our church is too small? No, remember the mustard seed!

How can you remember the story of the mustard seed? What can you do to help?

Matthew 9:20–22 in the New International Version (NIV) reads:

“Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, 'If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.' Jesus turned and saw her. 'Take heart, daughter,' he said, 'your faith has healed you.' And the woman was healed at that moment."
