In the Episcopal Church, we believe that God loves us all – without exception. This month ECF celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride with a special issue of Vestry Papers, https://bit.ly/3oPaEPv , and a series of blogs written by LGBTQ+ Episcopalians. We hope you will join us on the journey.

Anglicanism is a rich and diverse expression of Christianity that has its roots in the Church of England. As a member of the Anglican Communion, the Episcopal Church is part of a global family of churches that share a common faith, worship, and mission. Through our connections with Anglicans around the world, we are able to engage in vital partnerships for missions, work for justice and peace, and share in the rich diversity of our global church family. A Franciscan Blessing on St. Francis of Assisi Day

MAY GOD BLESS YOU with discomfort,
at easy answers, half-truths,
and superficial relationships
so that you may live
deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger
at injustice, oppression,
and exploitation of people,
so that you may work for
justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears,
to shed for those who suffer pain,
rejection, hunger, and war,
so that you may reach out your hand
to comfort them and
to turn their pain to joy.

And may God bless you
with enough foolishness
to believe that you can
make a difference in the world,
so that you can do
what others claim cannot be done,
to bring justice and kindness
to all our children and the poor.

Amen

Today we mourn the passing and celebrate the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II. My prayers for peace go out for her, for her loved ones, and for all those who knew and loved her throughout the world.

By giving thanks for workers, we who are privileged must also do our part in advocating for a living wage for all.

"When someone works for less pay than she can live on — when, for example, she goes hungry so that you can eat more cheaply and conveniently — then she has made a great sacrifice for you, she has made you a gift of some part of her abilities, her health, and her life. The 'working poor,' as they are approvingly termed, are in fact the major philanthropists of our society. They neglect their own children so that the children of others will be cared for; they live in substandard housing so that other homes will be shiny and perfect; they endure privation so that inflation will be low and stock prices high. To be a member of the working poor is to be an anonymous donor, a nameless benefactor, to everyone else."

On this day, I give thanks for all the workers, past and present, who, through their labor have have made it possible for me to have shelter, food to eat, transportation, and so much more. I give thanks for unions that work to ensure the equitable treatment of laborers.
