A thought on Aspen trees… and on us.
One of the most fascinating root systems in the plant kingdom belongs to the Aspen tree — and it’s one of my favorites. If you’ve ever seen them in the mountains in the fall, you know how breathtaking they are.
But what’s most fascinating isn’t what you see above ground — it’s what’s happening beneath the surface.
Aspen trees grow through a connected root system. They form what’s called a “clone,” meaning one root system can give life to hundreds of trees. Rarely will you ever find a single Aspen standing alone. Their roots are shallow but wide‑spreading, reaching out horizontally to draw strength, nourishment, and stability from one another.
And I can’t help but think…
We were never meant to stand alone either.
Unlike the Aspen, we can’t survive with shallow roots. We need roots that go deep — roots anchored in God’s Word, nourished by His presence, strengthened through prayer, and supported by the beautiful community He’s placed around us.
May we continue to grow, reach, connect, and stand strong — not as isolated trees, but as a thriving grove of women rooted in Christ and in each other.
Here’s to staying rooted, growing deeper, and walking this journey side by side.
