Psalm 37:23-24
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
Proverbs 24:16
“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.”
Words of Jesus – John 16:33
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Meditation: Fall Down, Get Up, Hold On
Let me tell you something that might just free your soul today: your stumbling and your struggling are not signs you’re failing—they’re signs you’re growing.
Some people think they’re growing in Christ, but they’re not. Others believe they’re stuck or slipping—but they’re actually growing leaps and bounds. Why? Because they’re struggling.
Think about it—there was a time you didn’t struggle with sin… you just did it.No hesitation. No conviction. No remorse.
But now? Now it bothers you. Now you pray about it. Now you wrestle with it. That wrestling is called spiritual growth.
NBA star Anthony Davis grew 8 inches in just a few years. His shoe size jumped from 12 to 17. He began stumbling—not because he was weak—but because his body was growing faster than he could adjust. His brain had to catch up with his new frame. And some of us are stumbling because our spirit is growing faster than our habits.
You used to cuss somebody out and sleep like a baby.
Now when you slip up? You lie awake asking yourself, “Why did I say that? Why did I go there?” That internal tension? That’s a sign that God is at work in you.
You are not who you used to be, even if you’re not yet who you want to be.
God is maturing you. And as Proverbs reminds us: though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.
So rise. Again. And again. And again.
Because Jesus has already overcome the world—and He’s not done with you yet.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for grace that catches us when we fall. Help us to see our struggle as evidence of growth, and our conviction as proof that You’re working in us. Keep us from shame, and give us strength to rise again in faith.
Amen.
