Day 7 — All In

“And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5

God does great things through people who are fully set apart for Him.

Before Israel crossed the Jordan River and witnessed God do the impossible, Joshua gave the people a command: “Sanctify yourselves.” Before the wonder came, preparation came first. Before the breakthrough, there was surrender. They did not casually walk into a move of God, they intentionally prepared their hearts for it.

The word “sanctify” means to set apart. It carries the idea of devotion, cleansing, and surrender to God. Israel understood that if God was going to move among them, they could not approach the moment carelessly.

The same is true for us.

Camp is more than a trip, a schedule, or a series of services. It is an opportunity to step away from distractions and intentionally pursue God. But what God does at camp will often be connected to how seriously we prepare beforehand.

Too many people approach spiritual moments casually. They want God to move, but they never truly surrender themselves to Him. They attend services while holding onto distractions, sin, pride, or spiritual apathy. But throughout Scripture, God consistently worked through people who were fully yielded to Him.

Being “all in” does not mean being perfect. It means being willing. Willing to listen. Willing to worship. Willing to repent. Willing to obey. Willing to let God change you.

As camp begins, don’t just show up physically, show up spiritually ready. Expect God to move, and position your heart to respond when He does.

Heart Check:
Are you approaching camp casually, or are you genuinely setting yourself apart for God to work in your life?

Action Step:
Take a moment today and personally pray: “God, I’m all in this week. Whatever You want to do in me, I’m willing.”

Prayer:
Lord, I set myself apart for You. Prepare my heart for what You want to do at camp. Remove distractions, deepen my hunger for You, and help me fully surrender to Your will. Do something in me that only You can do. Amen.

Day 6 — Be Ready to Respond

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22

God doesn’t move just so you can feel something. He moves so you change.

One of the dangers of church camp is becoming emotionally moved without ever becoming spiritually transformed. You can feel conviction during worship, be challenged by preaching, cry at the altar, and still walk away unchanged if you never respond in obedience.

James warns us not to be hearers only. Hearing God’s Word without obeying it leads to deception. In other words, it is possible to think you are spiritually healthy simply because you listen to truth, while never actually applying it to your life.

Real encounters with God always produce movement. When Isaiah encountered the holiness of God, he responded, “Here am I; send me.” When Peter realized who Jesus was, he left everything and followed Him. When Zacchaeus met Jesus, his life and priorities changed immediately.

God does not speak just to inform us. He speaks to transform us.

As camp approaches, decide now that you will not resist what God says. If He convicts you, repent. If He calls you deeper, surrender. If He asks you to forgive someone, obey. If He challenges your lifestyle, respond. Delayed obedience is still disobedience.

Too many people walk away from moments with God because they hesitate, worry about what others think, or assume they will respond later. But soft hearts respond quickly.

Don’t go to camp planning to observe. Go ready to obey.

Heart Check:
When God speaks to your heart, do you usually respond immediately or ignore His conviction?

Action Step:
Make a personal commitment today: “Whatever God speaks to me at camp, I will respond in obedience.”

Prayer:
God, give me courage to obey whatever You say. Help me not to ignore conviction or delay obedience. Give me a soft heart that responds quickly to Your Word and a willingness to change wherever You lead me. Amen.

Day 5 — Listen for His Voice

“Speak; for thy servant heareth.” 1 Samuel 3:10

God is speaking but are you actually listening?

It is possible to sit through worship services, hear sermons, sing songs, and still completely miss what God is trying to say. A lot of people attend church physically while remaining distracted spiritually. Hearing from God requires more than attendance, it requires attention.

In 1 Samuel 3, Samuel was lying still when God called his name. At first, he did not recognize the voice of the Lord, but eventually he responded, “Speak; for thy servant heareth.” Samuel positioned himself to listen. He was available, attentive, and willing to respond.

Many times we want God to speak loudly while we keep our lives spiritually crowded and noisy. We rush through prayer, skim Scripture, and fill every quiet moment with distractions. Then we wonder why we struggle to hear from God clearly.

God primarily speaks through His Word. The Holy Spirit uses Scripture to convict us, guide us, encourage us, and reveal truth. But if we are constantly distracted, we may never slow down long enough to listen carefully.

As camp approaches, don’t just prepare to attend services—prepare to hear from God. Come with an open Bible, an attentive heart, and a willingness to respond when He speaks. God still changes lives through His Word.

Sometimes the greatest spiritual moments happen when we stop talking long enough to listen.

Heart Check:
Do you intentionally make space in your life to hear from God, or are you constantly distracted?

Action Step:
Read a short passage of Scripture today. After reading, sit quietly for two minutes without your phone or distractions. Ask God to help you understand and apply what you read.

Prayer:
Speak, Lord. Help me slow down and recognize Your voice. Give me a heart that is attentive to Your Word and sensitive to Your Spirit. Remove distractions from my mind and teach me to listen when You speak. Amen.

Day 4 — Expect God to Move

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is…” Hebrews 11:6

If you don’t expect God to move, you’ll probably miss it when He does.

One of the easiest things to do at church camp is show up physically while staying disconnected spiritually. You can sit through services, hear preaching, sing songs, and still never truly engage your heart with faith.

Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that faith matters to God. When we come to Him, we must believe, not just believe that He exists, but believe that He is able to work, speak, change us, and reveal Himself. Faith positions our hearts to receive what God wants to do.

Throughout Scripture, expectation often preceded miracles. Blind Bartimaeus expected Jesus to hear him, so he cried out louder. The woman with the issue of blood believed that if she could just touch Jesus, she would be healed. The disciples gathered in the upper room expecting God to fulfill His promise. Faith did not earn the miracle, but it prepared their hearts to receive from God.

Sometimes we walk into camp expecting nothing more than another emotional week or another temporary experience. But what if you came believing God wanted to genuinely transform your life? What if you believed He wanted to speak directly to you through His Word, convict you, strengthen you, or call you deeper?

Expectation is not hype. Biblical expectation is confidence in who God is and trust that He still works in people’s lives today.

Don’t approach camp casually. Come ready. Come believing. Come expecting God to move.

Heart Check:
Are you truly expecting God to speak and work in your life at camp, or are you just attending another event?

Action Step:
Write down one specific thing you are asking God to do in your life during camp. Pray over it every day leading up to camp.

Prayer:
God, I believe You are going to move. Increase my faith and prepare my heart to receive what You want to do in my life. Help me come to camp expectant, attentive, and ready to respond to Your voice. Amen.

Day 3 — Stir the Hunger

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

You get out of camp what you come hungry for.

A lot of people come to camp excited for the games, friends, late nights, and fun moments. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying those things. But if that is all we come for, we may completely miss what God wants to do.

Jesus said the people who are filled are the ones who hunger and thirst after righteousness. God responds to spiritual hunger. He fills hearts that genuinely desire Him.

The problem is that many of us have filled our lives with so many other things that our hunger for God has grown weak. We crave entertainment, attention, comfort, relationships, and distractions more than we crave the presence of God. Eventually, we become spiritually satisfied with shallow Christianity.

But hunger can grow again.

The more time you spend with God, the more your desire for Him increases. Hunger is developed when you consistently pursue Him, even when you do not feel emotional or motivated. Sometimes worship starts as discipline before it becomes delight.

Throughout Scripture, God moved among people who desperately wanted Him. Blind Bartimaeus cried out until Jesus stopped. Moses said, “If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.” David said, “My soul thirsteth for thee.” Hungry people pursue God differently.

Don’t come to camp spiritually passive. Come expecting God to change you, challenge you, fill you, and draw you closer to Himself.

Heart Check:
Do you genuinely want God to move in your life, or do you mostly just want a good experience?

Action Step:
Spend at least 5 uninterrupted minutes in worship today. Put away distractions and focus completely on God, even if you do not “feel” anything at first.

Prayer:
God, give me a real hunger for You. Help me desire Your presence more than comfort, entertainment, or distraction. Stir something fresh in my heart and prepare me for what You want to do at camp. Amen.

Day 2 — Clear the Noise

“Let us lay aside every weight…” Hebrews 12:1

Not everything holding you back is sin, some things are just distractions.

One of the biggest reasons people struggle to hear from God is not because God is silent, but because life is loud. Our minds are constantly filled with noise, phones, social media, music, entertainment, relationships, pressure, and nonstop distractions. Eventually, it becomes hard to slow down long enough to recognize the voice of God.

Hebrews 12:1 tells us to “lay aside every weight.” A weight is different from sin. Sin is wrong, but weights are things that may not necessarily be sinful, yet they still slow your spiritual growth and pull your attention away from God.

Sometimes the enemy does not need to destroy your faith, he just needs to distract you enough that you stop pursuing God deeply.

Before camp starts, this is a good time to honestly evaluate what has your attention. What consumes most of your thoughts? What fills your time? What has become spiritually distracting in your life?

If we want God to move powerfully among us, we have to make room for Him. Revival rarely happens in distracted hearts.

Jesus often withdrew Himself into quiet places to pray. If the Son of God intentionally made space to hear from the Father, how much more do we need to?

This week, don’t just ask God to speak, remove some of the noise that is keeping you from listening.

Heart Check:
What has been taking your focus away from God lately?

Action Step:
Choose one distraction to limit this week - social media, unnecessary screen time, certain music, or something else - and replace that time with prayer, worship, or reading God’s Word.

Prayer:
Lord, help me remove anything that keeps me from hearing You clearly. Quiet the distractions in my life and help me become more sensitive to Your voice. Teach me to desire Your presence more than the things competing for my attention. Amen.
