Fellow Dudes!

If you are looking for a men’s retreat that is strictly focused on challenging you to engage in what Scripture says you should be doing than this is the retreat for you. We are looking to challenge you and help God grow you into the man he is calling you to be! This retreat is organized by some of our local churches. July 31-August 1st is the date. What A Last Week of Summer Camp!

We had our largest camp in the last decade this week with our Junior High and Senior High Camp. With so many of these campers we got a chance to see some familiar faces and some brand new ones! Tony Gray was our camp pastor this week and illustrated that Jonah story ultimately points to Jesus and our need of a Savior. Our colored Hill Tribes competed all week to see who would win our week long competition. We had Noodle Duels, Opened Mystery Boxes, Competed in “The Ultimate Photo Scavenger Hunt” and had our Annual Cheer Off. We even made some waves at the Scammon Pool!

Our favorite part of camp at this age is to see what God is doing in the lives of these campers year in and year out. We also love to see the relationships built between our campers during the week. We all become one big family by the end connected by God’s gracious love! We challenged our campers this week to continue walking in faith at their local church. Camp is a space that is designed for our campers to dedicate a week to putting away those distractions and committing to spiritual growth. True faith is shown in the fruit that is made everyday walking with Christ and being sanctified by him and we can’t wait to see these camper’s fruit for years to come!

We plan to share some videos this week from all the camps and some other updates. The following week will be our “Thank You” week. We appreciate the prayers, volunteers and the support of those in our local churches and communities! Our camp is only possible by God’s Unending Grace and his people who continue to show up for our little camp! God can do big things in small places!

Camp 5-6 was our week long adventure with our 5th and 6th graders. They participated in all sorts of activities while learning the story of Jonah last week. One activity that our 5th and 6th graders were apart of was the Worship Workshop. Each student got to choose which workshop that they wanted to join. These workshops included Woodworking, Ukulele, Baking, Automotive Work, and Graphic Design. Each workshop empathized how we can learn and worship God during any activity. The campers also were tasked with delivering a skit per each Hill Tribe team that demonstrated the story of Jonah. Each group did a great job demonstrating what they had learned over the week. Sam Eddington was our camp pastor of the week and did a great job helping our campers understand Jonah and God’s Grace. They also got to play water games, designed a trick shot and had a stormy movie night with some light flooding!

Our theme this year is Depths of Grace and last night weather fit right in with the theme. The only other Bible story that might have fit better was Noah!

Reflecting on our experience of wrangling 50 5th and 6th graders into our dining hall in the middle of the storm, putting on an impromptu Jonah movie with snacks and drinks on the fly, I can’t help, but think of Jonah’s story. God gave him a mission and he refused it. God could have taken him out, God could have used someone else or any number of possibilities, but God wanted to use Jonah. The storm, almost drowning, the big fish, being spat up and the tree were all God being graceful towards Jonah. Pushing him to what God had for him and the amazing redemption that was coming to the Ninevites.

In the middle of our storm last night, I thought about all the grace God has sent us and the camp. Campers who didn’t get nervous or scared during the storm, but rolled with the punches all night. Sponsors who were willing to mop and shop vac spots that the water had rolled in while watching kids. A director who was able to shift plans and make a great night out of a bad situation and pop some tasty popcorn. A youth staff that hunkered down in our Canteen and took orders for kids so they got their snacks and drinks for the night. A nurse who braved hail and downpour to bring those snacks over to our campers. Staff and cooks that helped run projectors and bathroom duty, helpers on the outside sending weather updates and a family who was solving problems. We look for God’s grace in the storms in life and we try to find the little things that God gives us. We take the opportunity in the trials and tribulations to grow closer to God and rely on him. He was with us in the storm and I’m thankful of the reminders of Grace in the people he sends our way!

Children’s Camp for our 3rd and 4th graders took place this Wednesday through Friday and these kids did an awesome job listening, learning and asking great questions! Over three days, they journeyed along with Jonah and learned how God continued Jonah along his mission to preach to Nineveh.

During our journey, we raced on bounce houses, played mini golf, had a glow stick water party and celebrated Christmas (Campmas) in June. These kids were awesome and learned so much through their pursuit of the truths of the Bible!

We are ready for the our week long camps and to meet and teach more campers over the next couple weeks!

Kingdom Kids Camp was an awesome time this Monday and Tuesday with our 1st and 2nd graders. We had an awesome carnival with all kinds of games and events, made huge bubbles and did really cool crafts!

We also learned the story of Jonah and how the story of Jonah teaches us about who God is.

The campers had an awesome times learning and growing on their overnight adventure. We were so privileged to be able to share with them all the things we had prepared!

We got a lot of help this afternoon and got all of our limbs and trees cut and put in the burn pile. Thank you for everyone that helped! God keeps sending us great help this summer!

HELP NEEDED:

Due to the weather last night we have tons of big tree limbs and a full tree come down. No damage to buildings occurred, but we could use some help this afternoon loading limbs and cutting up trees. We have a lot of other responsibilities with camp tomorrow and any help would be appreciated!
