Funeral Service for Mr. Robert Joseph Davis, age 76 of Lineville, will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wedowee at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. John McDonald, Rev. Thomas Weiss and Deacon Mike Cova officiating. Burial will be at the Georgia National Cemetery.
Mr. Davis passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Tanner Memorial in Carrollton, GA. Duck was born in Southbridge, Massachusetts and traveled to Alabama to attended Livingston University. He met Geneima, the love of his life there, and was soon drafted into the US Army, serving one tour in Vietnam. After returning, they moved to Peachtree City where Bob worked for the Georgia Department of Labor. He retired after 30 plus years, and his life on Lake Wedowee began. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed running, watching the Braves, and time on the lake. Bob was a professional volunteer, always willing to help others and always active at his church. The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church was a great passion for him and he was involved in most all things of the church. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Geneima Davis; a son, Grant Townsend Davis(Abigail) of Dunwoody, GA; sister, Sue Fantaroni of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Tim Burage(Catherine) of Cropwell, AL and sister-in-law, Rena Jordan(Rodney) of Lamison, AL; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Emelia Davis.
Active Pallbearers will be Alan Ryals, Alfredo Gembe, Chuck Smith, Evan Fantaroni, Rodney Jordan, Tim Burage, and Wesley Blecher.
A Prayer Service and Public Viewing will take place on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and a Praying of Rosary will begin at 7:00

We have just received notice from Bishop Raica of the Diocese of Birmingham stating:

"I am pleased to appoint you (Deacon Mike Cova) as Parochial Administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish in Wedowee and Holy Family Parish in Lanett, beginning at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, and until such time as a new Pastor or Administrator shall be named or I should determine otherwise."

The letter goes on to say:

"It will especially fall to you, during your time as Administrator, to secure priest coverage for parish Sunday and Holy Day Masses."

Deacon Mike Cova will be our "go to" person starting in July until a priest is assigned to Immaculate Conception. Father Tom Weise has agreed to continue celebrating the Masses at Immaculate Conception and Holy Family in Lanett.

CONGRATULATIONS DEACON MIKE. We are blessed to have you guide our Immaculate Conception Family!!!!!

Due to the possibility of some bad weather tomorrow afternoon, Deacon Mike will not be in St. Blaise Hall tomorrow. There will not be a Communion Service tomorrow. Thank you.
