Prayer for My Parish
Almighty God, my parish is composed of people like me. I help make it what it is. It will be friendly if I am. It will be holy if I am. Its pews will be filled if I help fill them. It will do great work if I work. It will be prayerful if I pray. It will make generous gift so many causes if I am a generous giver. It will bring other people into its worship if I invite and bring them. It will be a parish family of loyalty and love, of fearlessness and faith, of compassion, charity and mercy if I — who make it what it is — am filled with the same qualities.
Therefore, with the help of God, I will dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I want my parish to be.
Bless my journey, Lord God, I will dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I want my parish to be. Bless my journey, Lord God that I might follow Jesus and build the Church for you glory. Amen.

PRAYER TO ACCEPT GOD'S WILL

Lord Jesus, in Your agony, You uttered the prayer, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Help me to resign myself to the Father’s will with such humility and love. Grant that I may perceive the things that I can change in my life; give me the help to accept those things I cannot change.
I know that You will permit only that which will lead to my salvation and that of others. Help me to accept with a joyful and humble heart the good things that You send. Help me to accept, too, the cross that I must bear in union with You. I ask this, Lord, in Your name. Amen.

Thank you to our ladies for preparing and serving our monthly breakfast for veterans this Saturday. The food was delicious and many veterans enjoyed it . God bless you all!

Prayer for Family Protection
Father God, we come before You today to ask for your protection over our families. Let no trouble fall on them today. Keep them away from accidents. Allow no evil to influence their hearts. Cover them with the precious blood of Christ. Take charge over them so that they do not strike their foot against a stone.
We may not be with our families all the time, but I trust that You, Lord, are always with them. Keep them safe today and allow them to give glory to You further. Give them peace of mind so that they may not worry about anything. Guard their hearts so that they may only display love instead of hate, anger, or bitterness. Amen.

We also pray that You would restore the bonds that have been broken with some of our family members. We know, God, that there is nothing You would want more than feuding relatives to reconcile with each other. But we also admit, Lord, that we cannot do this on our own. For that, we ask Your Holy Spirit to surround us with Your love. May we be filled to the brim with love, that it may overflow and we may share it with our families. Allow us to be instruments of Your blessings to them. In due time, Lord, let our relationships also be restored. All these we pray in Your Name, Amen.

Thank you to all who helped today with our monthly veteran’s breakfast: Rita, Carolyn, Cheryl, Sue a Rich, Ken, and Fr. Henryk. A great group of veterans joined us today and enjoyed delicious food and pastries.

Prayer of Confession

(based on Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43)
Merciful God, you plant each of us like seeds in the same field and together we are nourished and nurtured by the sun.
We sway in the wind and are refreshed by the rain. We are blessed by the knowledge that you want us to grow towards what you call us to be.
When we deprive others of that same opportunity, forgive us.
When we want to uproot those whom we believe do not belong in our part of the field, forgive us.
When we label others as good or bad rather than accept them for who they are, forgive us.
When we are reluctant to acknowledge that we ourselves are a mixture of weeds and wheat, forgive us.
When we are afraid to look into the fields of our own lives to see what is growing there, forgive us.
O God, you know us inside and out, through and through. You search us out and lay your hand upon us.
You know what we are going to say even before we speak.
So we pray that you will help us to reach out to the uprooted and rejected, the lonely and the outcast, and to develop and grow the good in ourselves, in others and in the world. This we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

2. What do you think the reaction of the disciples and others was when they heard this parable?
3. How can the modern Christian use this parable in developing their faith?
4. What would you compare the different kinds of soil and the seeds in the parable to in modern life?
5. What would you describe as faith in rocky soil?
6. What would you think of as faith that has no depth?
7. What is the good soil of faith?
8. What challenge does this parable give the modern Christian in terms of spreading the word of God?
9. Jesus talks about hearing the word of God. Do you think it is possible to hear without really listening and understanding the word of God?

Prayer:
Lord, plant me in good ground! Help me to grow in faith so my relationship with you is not shallow and weak, but a deep and mature faith. Grant me a faith that can move mountains of doubt and oceans of fear.
Teach me to triumph over temptation. Help me to believe in you, even when I do not understand the capricious nature of the weather and the cruelty in some people. Lord, I am yours. Take me as I am. Shape me. Make me. Mold me into the person you would have me to be. Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen.
