Sometimes faith wavers. You run into something and you think, I should already know better than this. God has done some pretty awesome things. And still it wavers.

He is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. That does not change with your week.

Here is the practical part. Write it down. Keep a note, a journal, something you can go back to. Because on the day you need it, you want to be able to read it in your own handwriting: God was faithful. God came through.

Then your circumstances stop being evidence. You are not being punished. You are not God's whipping boy. There is a God who loves you, who has your world in His hands, and who is going to see you through.

"Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons." Deuteronomy 4:9

You have seen God provide. He put things in your heart. He came through for you, and you know it happened.

Then the tide turns. Life throws a curveball, and it gets easy to forget all of it.

That is usually where the questions start. Does God really love me? Am I being punished for my past? What is going on in my life?

Meanwhile God is saying, I am the same God I was yesterday. You had a need before and I supplied it. You had a need in the past and I made a way when there was no way.

We are commanded not to forget what we have seen with our own eyes for one reason. We forget what we have seen with our own eyes.

"I don't want to just pray."

Not every prayer turns into that holy of holies moment. Some mornings it is quiet and ordinary. But that is still the goal every single time.

Here is why. None of us knows what tomorrow brings. Something is going to come at you eventually, and you do not want it to land while you have been going through the motions.

Praying is good. Getting into His presence is the point.

A lot of people picture God as the number one power in the universe and the devil as number two. Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. God is stronger, but only by a little, and the outcome feels close.

That is not the picture Scripture gives us.

God is all powerful, and there is nobody even close. Satan is a created being. He is no nearer to the almightiness of God than we are.

That changes what prayer is. When God speaks, nothing stops it. His word does not return to Him void. It accomplishes what He sent it to do.

Whatever you are facing today is not an even match.

God does not need our praise. He enjoys it. He loves that someone He loves is bringing those words to Him. But nothing changes in Him when we praise.

Something changes in us.

Life keeps handing you things. Bills come due. You get stressed out. Somebody backs into your car. All of it pulls your attention down and keeps it there.

It is hard to stay down in the dumps while you are telling God how good He has been to you.

Start with one thing today. Say it out loud.

The disciples grew up praying. It was part of their culture. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were their heroes. So when they came to Jesus and asked Him to teach them to pray, they were not asking for the basics.

They were asking for what He had. Something was different when He prayed.

What He gave them was a pattern, not a script. You never read about the disciples reciting those words later. "Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name" was the frame, and they filled it in with their own lives.

Try it this week. Take one line at a time and pray your actual life into it.

Remembering the things God has done, one miracle at a time, one answered prayer at a time, can become the waypoints along your journey. Keeping them fresh in your memory means you're never too far that you can't look back and see that waypoint.

We are less than two months away from South Dakota Ladies Conference! 🙌🏼

Registration will open on August 3rd.

There is a block of rooms held at the Holiday Inn Express in Watertown under “UPCI SD Ladies Conference.” The rate is $144 for double queen bed or king bed rooms.
