Overcoming Children Update | We Need Your Help
This is a difficult update but an important one.
Through Overcoming Children, we support nearly 1,000 students across three schools in Kakamega, Nambale, and Bunyore, Kenya. Because of faithful support from you, these children have had food, education, medicine, and daily care.
But over the past year, support has declined and the need has grown.
Right now, they are facing real food shortages. This past year there has been extreme weather in Kenya.
When drought hits, there is little to no food and what is available becomes incredibly expensive.
When the rains come, they come hard destroying crops, flooding areas, and making the long walk to school dangerous.
It feels like they can’t catch a break.
Here are the immediate needs:
• Mosquito nets for boarding students $1,400
Heavy rains have caused a surge in mosquitoes, and the current nets are worn out and no longer effective.
• Well repair at the Kakamega school
The well has been damaged and is allowing dirt and debris into the water. Right now, they’re relying on rainwater, but this is only temporary. The well needs to be repaired for safe, clean water.
We’ve been sending extra support where we can but it’s still not enough.
This isn’t about extras.
This is about food, clean water, and protection for these kids.
We’re asking you to pray with us.
Pray for provision.
Pray for protection over these children as they travel.
Pray for wisdom for the leaders on the ground.
Pray for relief from both drought and destructive rains.
