Group meeting in Sintaná -
Sebastiana, the group's president, opened the workshop with a prayer. Each participant stated in one word their purpose or reason for being in the workshop. Words that were shared included commitment, relaxation, coexistence, learning. Through a "walking" activity, the participants connected with themselves and the other group members, focusing on emotional and body awareness and communicating visually without using words.

Meet Microloan Participants Who Have Recently Joined the Project:

Ana is a 29-year-old single mother who lives with her parents and siblings. Ana is recognized for being diligent, responsible, and motivated to better herself. For several years, she’s been selling food and atole, which is a traditional hot drink. This has helped
her support her family. Even with the economic challenges in the country, she’s shown a lot of dedication and hard work to move forward. She chose to join the group to start raising pigs. Being part of the group has inspired her to save up personally.

Here is an easy way for church members to help support the Guatemala MicroLoan Project.

Circle 5 from First Presbyterian Church in Newton provides Alternative Gift giving options for Mother’s Day each year. A pack of three notecards or a card noting that a gift has been given to the Guatemala MicroLoan Program in their honor are displayed three weeks prior to Mother’s Day. Each card highlights one of the women who has benefited from their participation in the program. This year they had necklaces made by women in Africa for purchase as well.

This year’s contribution to the Guatemala MicroLoan Program will be $850.

Meet Microloan Participants Who Have Recently Joined the Project:

Silvia is a dedicated and hardworking woman who really cares about her family's well-being. She has decided to start raising chickens to make extra money and enhance her family's diet. She mentions, "Being part of the group is great because you learn new
things, save money, and get a little break from the house." She’s quite familiar with raising chickens; she can slowly start bringing in profits if there's good management of the diet and the care they need.

Meet one of our Microloan Participants: Viviana

During the last cycle, Viviana faced some financial struggles at home after her husband lost his job. While she prayed to God for a new job opportunity for him, she sold fried chicken and french fries to support the family. Now that her husband has a steady job,
she feels motivated while taking care of the kids at home and handling her sales.

"The Project was created to uplift and inspire us, enabling us to contribute to and support the family. I'm really thankful for the sisters (prayer partners in the US) who may not be here but still keep us in their thoughts."
