Brian is a true example of following in Christ's footsteps!

🙏 Congratulations to Brian Witcher of Weaverville United Methodist Church, who has been named the second annual recipient of the Rev. Dennis W. “Bud” Cameron Christian Service Award in 2025.

Created in memory of Rev. Dennis W. “Bud” Cameron (1947–2023), the award honors individuals who live out a life of faithful Christian service. During the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Brian helped lead neighbors in clearing blocked roads, delivered essential supplies to those in need, organized youth to distribute food, and even hiked through rugged terrain to check on stranded community members.

Brian’s actions reflect the compassion, courage, and servant leadership this award celebrates. Thank you, Brian, for shining Christ’s light in your community. ✝️💛

Open with Prayer
Hymn #221 “In the Bleak Mid Winter”

Responsive Hymn Psalm 121 p 844 UM Hymnal
I lift my eyes to the hills.
From whence does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
The Lord will not let your foot be moved,
The Lord who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, the One who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade
On your right hand.
The Sun shall not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil,
And will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and for evermore.

Hymn #140 “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”

Prayer for those in the path of the Ice Storm and going without power.

Sermon Scripture: Luke 15:4-7
4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Sermon title: “Father, What Do We Do?”

Closing Hymn: #130 “God Will Take Care of You”

Sermon Scripture: Luke 15:4-74 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Good Afternoon,

This is Pastor Richard Blount for Weaverville UMC in Weaverville, North Carolina on Saturday January 24th.

We are canceling IN PERSON worship tomorrow.

The Town of Weaverville has strongly recommended all residents stay home on Sunday. The Weaverville Police Department is only responding to emergency calls starting at 3 o’clock this afternoon, and the Woodfin Police Department is doing the same. If the police are not willing to leave their offices except for emergencies then the Body of Christ does not need to be creating emergencies by trying to drive to church for worship.

Tomorrow morning at 11 am I will offer a time of worship via Facebook Live. There will be a sermon and hymn singing. You can still make your contribution to the ministry of Weaverville UMC by going to https://www.weavervilleumc.org/donations/

I have also reached out to our Sunday School classes and small group leaders to reach out to our members by phone call or text message. If you lose power or a tree falls on your house please let us know. If you are a community member in need of help please reach out to our Facebook messenger account for the church and we will what we can to help you out that way.

Stay warm. Stay safe. Please. Pray the storm passes us by. Pray for our First Responders. Pray for our neighbors.

May the peace of Christ be with you.
Pastor Richard
