This week, we’re praying for fathers: dads, grandfathers, stepdads, adoptive fathers, spiritual mentors, and all men who care for and guide others with love.

Pray that God would strengthen them, give them wisdom, and remind them that their work matters deeply. Pray also for those who are grieving, missing their fathers, or carrying difficult relationships following Father’s Day.

Next Friday is DCE Appreciation Day! The linked article lists all the special appreciation days for various church workers that our Synod has set aside as opportunities to show appreciation for those called to these specific areas of ministry.

On June 26, 2026, we continue our year of church worker appreciation observances by thanking God for directors of Christian education (DCEs), one of the seven commissioned (auxiliary) offices that support the work of the Holy Ministry.

To have a creed means to have a belief. This belief that we say together on Sundays isn't about what we do or know, it’s about what God has done for us.

“I believe in God the Father...” He created you.
“I believe in Jesus Christ...” He redeemed you.
“I believe in the Holy Spirit...” He calls and keeps you in faith.

Christians have been boldly stating the Apostles Creed for over 1600 years. When we say the creed together on Sundays, we are declaring the same thing thousands of Christians have said before us over the course of centuries.

As Jesus knew in our Gospel lesson from Sunday, the need for outreach ministry is huge. God help us to have our eyes open to where we can share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Help us to see those who have the gift of church worker and encourage them toward that vocation. Help us all to reach out to hurting communities and share the hope of Jesus Christ.

Jesus knew the harvest was plentiful, but the need for workers was plentiful as well. After a time of teaching and showing them the way of ministry, he sent the 12 disciples off to help with the work of outreach. It is not only church workers who do this. As Christians, we are all called to go out into the fields and share the Good News of Jesus Christ to those we meet in order to build the Kingdom of God.
