In this week's message, Rev. Lisa introduces this month's new theme of "Flourishing Together" and celebrates the ecosystems we choose to create.

It's my honor to announce that the recipients of the 2026 Volunteer Service Award are Minnesota Unitarian Universalists, for their tremendous dedication and faithful commitment to justice in organizing UUs from around the country to join in training, worship, and historic anti-ICE protests last January. We are grateful for their activism, community care, and resistance ministry.

The Volunteer Service Award will be given to Minnesota UUs during General Assembly, as part of the General Session on Tuesday, June 16. Please join us in celebrating at GA. Learn more and register at the link in the comments below.

In this week's message, Rev. Lisa explores the root meanings of curiosity and how its call to care for each other enables us to counter hate.

In this week's Midweek Minister's Message, Ministerial Intern Meleah Houseknecht explores how listening to each other's stories can help us to "be curious, not judgemental."

Rev. Lisa invites us to two special UU milestones this Sunday: UUCM's Annual Meeting and our Coming of Age Celebration. When did you have to articulate your own beliefs for the first time. How have they changed or not since then?

May 5 is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR).

Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people face alarmingly high rates of violence and disappearance, yet their stories are too often ignored or erased.

In solidarity with Native communities—and as part of our ongoing efforts to support and uplift our LGBTQ+ Indigenous loved ones—we encourage you to dive deeper, uplift Indigenous-led organizations, and take action, whether by amplifying voices, supporting grassroots efforts, or educating your own communities.

As a starting point, check out the following Native-led organizations:
• The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center | niwrc.org
• The Urban Indian Health Institute | uihi.org
• The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women | csvanw.org

Spring Prayer

Spirit of Life, we come seeking stillness.
The world is bursting with green,
with frenetic energy and a desperate need
to fill the empty spaces with life.

We are bursting, too,
our hands frantic to fill the blank slots on our calendars
and the empty spaces in our gardens.
We all have leafless branches and flat, dark soil.
There is no guarantee
that we will sprout this year as we have before.

Spirit of Life, we seek your blessing.
May your hands join ours as we tend our gardens,
coaxing life from our sleeping seeds.
May you sit with us in the quiet,
settling our hearts into a space for waiting,
taking in the sun and rain so that we, too, might bloom.

Blessed be.

The Minneapolis May Day starts at noon on Sunday! More details on the plans are available here: https://www.maydaympls.org/

This May Day, we're joining workers, students, and families across the country for a coordinated national day of action under one clear banner: Workers Over Billionaires.

Our spirit is with all who are acting together in a collective demonstration that when working people move together, the rules change.

Together, we demand: Tax the rich. No ICE. No War. Expand democracy, not corporate power. Defend free and fair elections.
