Bishop-Elect Alex Cameron has been confirmed by the College of Bishops

The final step in our bishop search has been completed! Yesterday, the College of Bishops of the Anglican Church in North America met and consented to the election of the Reverend Alex Cameron as our next bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh.

We give thanks for God’s faithfulness and for walking with us through this election and confirmation process. Please pray for our diocesan leadership and for the Cameron family as we embark on this exciting transition together.

“I am thankful for the College’s consent and for the election by the Diocese of Pittsburgh. I look forward to gathering with the Diocese and digging into the work of ministry,” he said. When asked about what the heart of his ministry has been over the years, he answered, “It has been to remind people that the gospel is true—to remind people so that they don’t forget that Jesus is Lord and that He saves.”

Archbishop Foley Beach commented, “It was a blessing to hear the testimonies of each of these candidates today. They are wonderful men of God who have been called to lead and who will bring unique gifts to the episcopate. Please join me in praying for them as they prepare for their consecrations in August. Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to lead them and their people from strength to strength.”

We look forward to celebrating the ordination and consecration of our new bishop on August 6, 2022. More details will be forthcoming regarding how many from each parish may attend (due to limited seating). Clergy, please watch your email inboxes. The consecration will also be livestreamed.
