After a difficult week in our Waynesboro community, Sunday’s message from Mark 4:35-41 offered a reminder we needed to hear.

As the disciples found themselves caught in a storm, Jesus was there with them. But they also had one another. They were not facing the wind and waves alone.

The storms of life can come suddenly and leave us afraid, overwhelmed, and unsure of what comes next. But we do not journey through them alone. Christ is with us- and we have been given the gift of community to hold one another up, sit beside one another in the hard moments, and remind each other that we are not alone.

We invite you to listen to Sunday’s sermon as we continue to pray for our neighbors, our schools, and our entire Waynesboro community.

This week’s Music Monday features Weep With Me, performed by the FBW Praise Band. We hope this music offers a moment of reflection and reminds us that we never walk through difficult seasons alone. ❤️

Today, our hearts are heavy for our neighbors at Westwood Hills Elementary School and for our entire Waynesboro community.

In moments like these, words can feel inadequate. We grieve that children, teachers, staff, and families experienced fear in a place that should always feel safe. We pray for the person who was injured, for all who witnessed or were affected by today’s events, and for the first responders and community leaders who stepped in to help. And we give thanks that the children, teachers, and staff of Westwood are safe.

Today reminded us that when one part of our community hurts, we all hurt. But it also reminded us of the strength found when a community comes together to care for one another.

Tomorrow evening, September 3, at 7:00 p.m., Westminster Presbyterian Church will host a community vigil. All are welcome. Whether you need a place to pray, to grieve, to process, to sit quietly, or simply to be surrounded by your neighbors, there is a place for you.

May God hold our children especially close tonight. May God bring comfort to those who are afraid, healing to those who are hurting, strength to those who have cared for others today, and peace to our community in the days ahead.

We are praying for Westwood. We are praying for Waynesboro. And we are here for one another.
