Question: How do people drink at restaurants and then drive safely?

Answer: Bartender and daily drinker here.

We have no clue. The driving home is the elephant in the room no one talks about. I will say, never get in a car with someone else that has been drinking. They are not going to pull over and admit they're too drunk to drive. And even if you had the same amount, you don't know how that affected them. They could be on medications or an empty stomach or some other factor could make them more impaired than you feel.

So if you know you'll be drinking, just don't drive to begin with, but know everyone else is doing it and we all pretend it's normal.

FACT: Liquor by the drink sales WILL NOT save our county budget or offset tax increases. Restaurant sales, regardless of success, would yield only about $4.37 per person in tax revenue, a mere 0.15% of the county's total budget. For context, this equals $75 in a $50,000 household budget. Notably, Clifton already collects part of this tax through its Resort Area exemption so the overall tax benefit would be minimal.
