Dear Food Pantry Patrons:
We have received new training and new personal protective equipment and are, thus, planning to **re-open the food pantry today at 4:30pm...** ...please keep reading for more important details.
For the duration of the Coronavirus epidemic, the method of food distribution will be changed for the protection of our patrons and for our food pantry volunteers. Changes to our method of food distribution include the following:
1. We are implementing a "drive through" food pantry process effective immediately. We ask for the cars to queue up along the driveway of the church. When you are next, pull up to the porch of the church and roll down the window of your car. Our staff will ask you for the number of people in your household and whether or not you have already signed up for the food pantry.
Based on the number you tell us, we will direct you exit your car and to take a number of pre-prepared bags from the table adjacent to the porch of the church (but, do not attempt to walk up onto the porch of the church). After taking your food, drive around the parking lot to turn around and exit the property.
***Again, to re-iterate this point for your safety and for the safety of our volunteers: do not exit your car while on the church premises until it is your turn to receive food, and under no circumstances are non-food-pantry personnel allowed to come onto the porch of the church or enter the church building. Thank you for your understanding.
2. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer perishable food service at this time (i.e. fresh fruits and vegetables cannot be picked up currently). We hope that the perishable food pickup can resume soon.
3. Our food pantry staff will be required to wear masks and gloves during the operation of the food pantry. We strongly encourage our patrons to do the same.
4. At the end of our pantry hours, one food pantry volunteer will collect the remaining bags (if there are any left) and will be assigned to sanitizing the foods from those bags. Afterwards, the table where the bags were laid will be thoroughly disinfected and stored in the food pantry area.
Thank you for your understanding! We are overjoyed to have a revised process that will allow us to resume food distribution.
With much love in our Savior Jesus Christ,
Fr. Jonah Campbell and the Staff of Christ the Savior Food Pantry
