TODAY’S SAPPHIRE:
The Inherent Lightness Of The Spirit

In the natural, everything that has mass weighs something and is affected by gravity. But the most powerful force in the universe weighs nothing. The Hebrew word for wind is ruach, which also means spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Ruach Ha Kodesh or the Holy Wind. Wind doesn't weigh anything so the Spirit, like the wind is weightless. In the spiritual realm, things of the world and the flesh are heavy. If you live by them, you carry unnecessary burdens in your heart. Messiah said, "Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I'll give you rest. Take My yoke upon you... For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light!" If you live by the flesh, your life will be burdened down. But if you live by the Spirit, your life is going to get lighter. So give yourself a break today and lighten your load. Let go of things, issues, the flesh, and the world. Live, walk, and think by the Spirit and you won't be burdened or filled with anxiety anymore. You'll be light. Live by the Spirit, and you will live weightless.

The Spirit Into The Conflict

In Acts 1:4, Messiah tells the disciples to wait in Jerusalem to receive the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit. God's Spirit was going to fall in Jerusalem, where the Lord was to be crucified and where those who hated the disciples were. God was going to pour His Spirit right where the conflict was so that the light would pe*****te the darkness, miracles would overcome the problem, and the conflict would be touched by the Spirit of God. God wants His Spirit to come into your life, to touch all the parts that need to be touched. He wants the anointing to come upon you right in the midst of everything. He doesn't want you to run from your problems, your conflicts, your needs, or from the world. He wants you to shine the light into the darkness. He wants you to take the Gospel to the lost, love the unlovely, and bless those who curse you. Go forth in the great commission and the Lord's glory will rest on you. Because He pours out His Spirit, His power, and His anointing in Jerusalem.

The Mystery Of Asenath

Joseph was a foreshadow of Messiah: the beloved son of the father, rejected by his brothers, taken captive, falsely accused, punished for the sins of others, descended to the pit, and then lifted up to the throne to become the savior of the land. In Genesis 41:45, it's written, "Pharaoh gave Asenath, the daughter of Patiphera the priest of On, to Joseph as his wife." So Joseph married an Egyptian. What does this have to do with Messiah? Revelation 21:9 says, "I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." Messiah also has a bride and the bride of Messiah is also, in a very real sense, Egyptian. She comes to Him as a stranger to the promises, a sinner, and not as one who is by her old nature holy. Beyond that, most of those who make up the bride of Messiah come from the nations outside Israel, but are now grafted in. It's all by grace. So Messiah marries you not because of who you are, but because of who He is. So rejoice in His love and grace, just as Asenath rejoiced in the love of Joseph. For Messiah has married an Egyptian bride.

You Can't Play Yourself

A musical instrument that tries to use itself for its own purposes is of no value. A flute can't play itself. A violin can't bow itself. No instrument can by itself give itself value. But if an instrument is owned and used by a master musician, then everything changes. When the flutist blows his breath through the flute, or the violinist bows the violin, the purpose of the instrument is fulfilled. You are an instrument. If you treat your life as your own possession; something you can use for your own purposes, and you try to give your life meaning, you'll never do it. You were created by God to be an instrument for His purposes. Therefore you can never find the purpose of your life by yourself. Give yourself to the Master. Let Him use your life. Surrender yourself to His purposes. Let the breath of His Spirit blow through your being. Let the sound of His voice flow through your voice. Let your life be an instrument of His will, and it will be fulfilled. It'll become an instrument filled with the melody and the symphony of the Master's love.

When I was 12, I built a fort in the woods with a friend. We used logs, and covered it with see-through plastic. It looked impressive. We even had a sleepover in it. One day, a storm came and destroyed it. By that time, we didn't care enough about it to rebuild it. But in Amos 9:11, God says, "In that day I will raise up the fallen tabernacle of David." Tabernacle in Hebrew is sukkah; meaning booth, tabernacle, or tent. The fallen tabernacle of David is referring to Israel. And Ephesians 2:19 teaches that as believers, we are fellow citizens of Israel. The fallen tabernacle can be seen as a kingdom of fallen people being raised up by God. We often write fallen people off and give up on them. But God is saying, "When I love something, I don't give up on it." He doesn't give up on Israel, on you, or that person. So don't give up on that person. And don't give up on yourself, especially when you fall. Pick up those pieces and rebuild, as God has done for you. Because when you love something and it breaks, you rebuild it.

Color War And The End Times

My summer camp had something called "Color Wars." All the campers were divided into blue and gold teams. I was always on the blue team. I looked down on the gold team. I believed the blue team had the advantage because the camp had the word Blue in its name. Thus blue was right and good. Gold was wrong and evil. Blue was the wave of the future, and the answer. We were convinced of the righteousness of our cause - based on nothing but a color. As humans, our sense of right and wrong can be flaky. People tend to adopt values based on what the majority says is in or out, and they just follow along. We are now watching age old values being overturned and the majority going along with it. As an end-time believer, you need to completely ground your life, your values, and your integrity on the Word of God. The Word of God does not change. It is the rock upon which you, as an end-time believer, have to stand. Ground yourself on the rock and stand. For everything else is as absurd as a war of blue and gold.

The Jews, Columbus, And America

In 1492, a great wave of anti-Semitism had risen in Spain. After hundreds of years of living there, the Jewish people were being expelled. They had to either convert to Catholicism, leave Spain or be killed. The harbors of Spain were filled with ships crammed with Jewish refugees. At that same time, there were other ships in the harbor getting ready to sail - the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Their voyage would lead to the discovery of a new land, America would become the greatest refuge for the Jewish people of any land outside of Israel in 2000 years. So in 1492, when the Jewish people were going through one of the greatest calamities, God was already preparing for them a future refuge. It's a supernatural law of Jewish history: whenever there is tragedy, there is redemption. If you're born again, that law also applies to you. No matter what you're going through, God will work it through for redemption as you follow Him. Just remember 1492. You may not see it yet, but you will in the end. For every one of your problems, there's another ship in the harbor.
