A window into two beautiful musical offerings this past Sunday (8/16) at WPC:

- David Price (tenor) singing Herbert Howell's "King David" - a 1919 setting of Walter de la Mare’s poignant poem beautifully capturing the journey of a grieving king whose deep sorrow is ultimately lifted by the song of a nightingale.

- The Summer Chancel Choir's anthem - a beautiful 1914 setting of a 19th-century hymn tune melody by German opera composer Friedrich von Flotow - is set to the words of 'Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah.' It's always a joy to unearth beautiful anthems that have been lost to time!"

Summer Sing 2 is approaching!

Join us this Tuesday, August 4, from 7:00–9:00 PM at Wayne Presbyterian Church (125 E Lancaster Ave, Wayne, PA 19087) for a fun, inspiring evening of music-making. We’ll be previewing selections from our exciting 2026–27 season repertoire:

- Franz von Suppé – Requiem (1855) *US Premiere*
- Johannes Brahms – Nanië
- G. F. Handel – Messiah
- Leonard Bernstein – Chichester Psalms
- Carl Orff – Carmina Burana

*Music will be provided - just bring your voice*

Social time to follow @ Christopher's (right across the street)

We are especially looking for new tenors and basses!

The Wayne Oratorio Society is a welcoming, community-based symphonic chorus that performs major choral works - both classical and contemporary - with professional orchestra and soloists. Our members come from across the Main Line and greater Philadelphia/Tri-State region, united by a love of great music and meaningful connection. Whether you are an avid lover of choral singing, a parent looking for an after-bedtime creative outlet, or new to the area and seeking music & community - this is for you!

This morning, our Summer Choir learned and presented Richard Smallwood's iconic, soul-stirring "Total Praise." The walls of Wayne Pres were pushed outward in all directions with pure, reverent spirit.

Love to sing?

Now that school years and church choir years have ended, the summer is wide and open! Beginning THIS Sunday, 6/14, and continuing through Sunday, 9/6 - we'll be holding weekly Summer Choir sessions here at Wayne Pres. The music goes on!

What is Summer Choir?
- A summer variant of WPC's Chancel Choir - anyone (from anywhere) is welcome to enjoy a morning full of music and worship.
- Music is provided
- Our pro quartet is present throughout - providing great support for our efforts.
- Rehearsal starts at 9:00am in the (upstairs) Choir Room.
- We learn 3 hymns, a few pieces of short/easy "service music," and a quick-learn choir anthem
- The Summer Choir then sings at the 10:00am service
- Dress is "Sunday casual”
- You can attend just once or as many times as you like!
- All are welcome & feel free to share this info with anyone that might have interest
- Come, Sing!

This Sunday (6/7), we celebrate the wonderful music ministry of the Wayne Presbyterian Chamber Orchestra - directed by Joseph Kauffman. Within the context of the service, the orchestra will be playing four pieces as well as elevating all hymns and service music. This will be a Sunday not to be missed!
