Join MetroWest Climate Solutions on June 16 at 7 p.m. for a free webinar on the powerful connection between keystone plants and the insects that depend on them. You’ll learn how to implement “Soft Landings” – a habitat design and management strategy focusing on creating drought-tolerant mini-ecosystems beneath native trees to support pollinators throughout their life cycles. The session will also explore examples of fascinating bee/plant relationships and learn how keystone plants function as foundational species in our ecosystems. Site preparation methods, herbicide considerations, and building a resilient plant matrix of sedges, grasses, and flowering plants will also be covered.
Our speaker, Heather Holm, is a pollinator conservationist and award-winning author of four books. Heather’s expertise includes the interactions between native pollinators and native plants, and the natural history and biology of native bees and predatory wasps. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Minneapolis Star Tribune, and many local publications.

On June 7, half the Sunday offering will be donated to The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading su***de prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit for LGBTQ young people. Information and support are available 24/7, all year round. Donations let young people know they are valued and belong.
First Parish shares its offering with one organization twice each month, or two social justice organizations once each. This ensures that everyone has the opportunity to generously support these vital community organizations and causes.

Rabbi Danny and Rev. J. Anthony Lloyd of the Greater Framingham Community Church have an Opinion piece in today's MetroWest Daily News responding to the racist and antisemitic graffiti found in Natick two weeks ago.

"This latest incident has illustrated that the perpetrators of these crimes do not distinguish; their hate is aimed at all of us. They have directly targeted the Black and Jewish communities, but in reality, they are targeting each and every one of us. And in the face of these attacks, it cannot just be the Black and Jewish communities who continue to raise the alarm after the statement has been issued and the graffiti removed.

The question before us is not whether Natick condemns hate. The question is whether we are prepared to confront it together before the next wall is marked, the next child is frightened, and the next community is told they do not belong."
