Today's sermon was "Stepping out on Faith" from Matthew 14:28-33. In the Scripture lesson, we have recorded the miracle when the Lord Jesus came walking on the water to His disciples in the midst of a storm on the sea. It is after the ex*****on of John the Baptist and it is after the great miracle of the feeding of the 5,000. The disciples are sore afraid and believe they have seen a ghost. Peter asks the Lord, if it is you, bid me to come to you. The Lord Jesus says come. Peter steps out of the boat and walks on the sea, but he takes his eyes of Jesus and begins to notice the storm and he begins to sink. He cries out to the Lord to be saved and the Lord does so, but rebukes him for his lack of faith. When they reach the shore, the storm ends and the disciples declare Jesus as the son of God. The lessons are many, but among them are recognize God's voice when he calls us. Step out in obedience when He calls you. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Don't be afraid. Don't be distracted by the storm or the world. Step out on faith.

Sunday's sermon was delivered through Elder Terry Herrin from the Mars Hill Church near Hoboken. Elder Herrin spoke on "Fret Not" from Psalm 37:1. Bro. Terry spoke about the goodness and faithfulness of God to us and how we should not fret or worry. God will take care of us. He used various other Scripture proofs including Matthew 7, where it compares how men give good gifts to their children, and declares that God will give us much better and greater things. There is no need to worry or fret. We thank Elder Herrin for filling in for us while Bro. Jason was away.

Today's lesson was "Blessed Art Thou Among Women" from Luke 1:41-48. The lesson Scripture is closely associated with the first coming of the Lord Jesus, as it records Mary's visit to her cousin, Elisabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. An angel has just visited Mary and told her she will be the mother of the Lord Jesus and she will be highly favored among women. There are many examples on how to be a good mother that can be learned from Mary, Jesus' mother. She was chosen by God for this blessed privilege. She glorified and praised God. She was obedient to God. She was faithful. This faithfulness was there even in the midst of trials and tribulations and even in the suffering of the cross, and she was still there, still faithful, after the resurrection at the birth of the early church. All these attributes are still good ones for mothers today: Glorify God, Obey God, Be faithful to God and follow God.
Happy Mother's Day!

Today's sermon was "Why Stand Ye Gazing Up?" from Acts 1:1-11. In today's Scripture, we have the miracle of the ascension of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Jesus' followers see Him ascend into heaven in a cloud and they stand there gazing upward. I think, many times, we tend to overlook the significance of the ascension. The Lord Jesus has appeared to His followers proving His resurrection and He has proven He is the Lord, the Son of God. He now ascends to heaven and sends us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is still with us today and it moves in us and among us. We are to be faithful, we are to be serving and we are to be witnessing about our Savior. We don't have time to stand around gazing up. The Lord is coming again in that same manner. Let's follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and do His will.
** We did have some technical difficulties with the recording this morning. **
