Today's sermon was "Counting the Cost" from Luke 14: 28-29. In the lesson the Lord Jesus challenges His followers to turn from their families and to take up their crosses and follow Him. He uses as the example, counting the costs and compares it to a construction project. Jesus wants us to be all in, committed and to leave everything on the field. While we can't purchase our own salvation, we know that it was bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus. We should consider that cost and what it is. We will determine that following Christ is always worth it and is the only way.

Elder Keith Tillman of the Jesup Primitive Baptist Church preached at our 5th Sunday Union meeting tonight at Comfort Chapel. Elder Tillman preached from 1 Petere 5:7 on "He Careth For You". Bro. Keith talked about all the ways the Lord Jesus cares for us, even when we don't realize it. Bro. Keith presented numereous examples throughout the Scriptures where God the Father and our Savior, the Lord Jesus, protects us and keeps us from all harms and dangers. May we have faith and confidence in the assurance that He cares for us.

Today's sermon was "Prepare Thy Work" from Proverbs 24:27. The text comes from the practical wisdom recorded by the inspiration of God by King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived. The simple, easy to understand text tells us to prepare our work, make it fit and then build the house. It seems to be wisdom that should be obvious to us, and yet, it is there because we need to be reminded of it. Whatever we are building, whether it be in our personal lives, our work life, family life or an actual physical building, these three guidelines should always be followed. We should begin by preparing, by getting ready. Then we should make it fit and by doing so, that means we are to work to make things ready. Then, we are to build. There is an order to it. We should follow that order. If we don't, then whatever is built, is not going to stand. The Lord help us to prepare our work.

Today's sermon is "The Lord's Hand is not Shortened" from Numbers 11:23. The lesson Scripture is the Lord's response to Moses' doubt and powerful reminder of God's power and faithfulness. During the Exodus from Egypt, the children of Israel begin "whining" that they don't have any meat, even as the Lord causes manna to rain down from heaven and sustain them. The Lord is angry, and sends a fire which burns the camp. The Lord does show restraint, however. God also promises Moses and the children of Israel that He will provide them with meat, so much so that quail covered the ground three feet deep and each person gathered 5-10 bushels. The abundance of meat was so great, that they ate meat for a solid month and the Lord sent a plague to make them sick of it. Moses didn't see how the Lord would provide. He couldn't believe that what God said was what God would do. The Lord declares to Him that God's hand is not short in any way. The applications here are several: God's power is unlimited. Have faith despite your doubts. Trust God's provision when circumstances seem impossible. Know that God is able and God will provide.

Today's sermon is "How Shall We Do" from 2 Kings 6:15. In the lesson Scripture, the servant of God's prophet, Elisha, realizes that he and his master are surrounded by a great, hostile army from Arem (Syria) seeking to capture them. He asks his master: How shall we do? Elisha tells him not to fear and prays to the Lord that his servant may see and the Lord grants his request. His servant is allowed to see a vast angel army surrounding he and Elisha. The army is smitten with blindness and taken to Samaria. They are fed and given drink and sent back to Syria. They never come against Israel again. The lessons are many about what we are to do when we are faced with the question, how shall we do in our circumstances in life? We are not to be afraid. Fear not. And, we are, like Elisha, to pray to God. Then, we are to await God's answer and His divine revelation. God will take care of us. God will work everything out. He is faithful and He will deliver us.

Today's sermon was "He Delighteth in Mercy" from Micah 7:18-19. The lesson Scripture comes from the Old Testament book of Micah. Micah is one of God's prophet who delivered God's Word during the time that the northern and southern kingdoms were about to collapse and the children of Israel would be carried off into exile. He warns them that because of their disobedience, their immorality and their illegal treatment of the poor, that judgement and punishment were coming. However, just as he prophesied about the coming of the Lord Jesus, Micah also tells of a gracious and merciful God, a God who is unlike any other. God pardons iniquity (our sins). God passes over our rebellious acts. God does not retain His anger forever. God loves us and forgives and heals and restores. God delights in showing mercy. I'm so thankful that He does. May He ever receive the glory and praise for His mercy.

Sunday's sermon was "Let Me Tell you About My Jesus" from John 1:1-4, John 5:23-24, John 10:27-30 and various Scriptures. The sermon was delivered through Elder Terry Herrin of the Mars Hill Church in Hoboken. Elder Herrin filled in for us in the absence of Bro. Jason, who was away on vacation. In the lesson, Elder Herrin reviewed some of the many names of the Savior and he also talked about some of the many attributes of the Lord Jesus. We thank Bro. Terry for filling in for us.
