Today's sermon was "It was Noised that Jesus Was in the House" from Mark 2:1-12. The lesson comes from a miracle that Jesus performed while he was at Capernaum. A man who is sick with palsy is brought on a litter to Jesus while He taught there, but they are unable to gain access to get where Jesus is. They remove the roof and lower the palsied man down in to the midst of where Jesus is teaching. Jesus commends their great faith and forgives the man. After the religious leaders think in their hearts that Jesus is committing blasphemy, the Lord reveals Himself as the son of God and both forgives and heals. The same is true today. The best and most effective witness a church and indeed the saints of God can have is the "noise" that Jesus is in the house. And, when Jesus is in the house, sins are forgiven, mercy is shown, healing takes place and great things happen. The four who bore the man's litter are also noted for their witness and their assistance to the man who was sick of the palsy. They went to great lengths to help the man. They literally bore his burdens. Those are all good lessons for us to use and apply.

Brothers and Sisters,
Sister Georgia Lee Jones Todd went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 10, 2026. She was 83.
She and Bro. Linton have been long-time friends and supporters of Comfort Chapel. Sis. Georgia Lee is sister of Sis. Nancy Thrift and Sis. Susie Deal and aunt of our pastor, Elder Jason Deal.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at Music Funeral Home, 1503 Tebeau Street, Waycross.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, from the chapel of Music Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Todd family plot in the High Bluff Cemetery near Hoboken in Brantley County.
Arrangements are with Music Funeral Home of Waycross. The full obituary and guestbook are included in this post.
Comfort Chapel will provide and serve a meal for the Todd family Saturday after the burial service. The meal will be served at the Todd family residence, 3912 Driggers Road, Waycross. Those who can assist serving are asked to be at the house by 1 p.m.
Please pray for Bro. Linton, Bro. Mike and Sis. Holley, Bro. Greg and Sis. Darlene, Sis. Karen and Bro. Donnie and Bro. Randy and Sis. Jay and their families.

Today's sermon was "Keep Pushing On" from 2 Timothy 4:1-8. The message was delivered through Elder Terry Herrin of the Mars Hill Church near Hoboken. Bro. Terry filled in for Bro. Jason today. In the lesson, Elder Herrin recounted the afflictions of the Apostle Paul in relation to these verses recounting that he was beaten, shipwrecked, stoned and thrown in prison for preaching Jesus Christ. He encouraged us to watch in all things, to endure afflictions and to remember that it won't always be easy, but it will get better. He encouraged us to look up and to look forward to the day the Lord, the righteous judge, will return. What a day that will be!

Please be in prayer for the family of Bro. Ed Lucas, a faithful friend of Comfort Chapel Church. Bro. Ed, 82, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday, October 13, at Music Funeral Home, 1503 Tebeau Street, Waycross.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
An interment service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Riverview Memorial Gardens in Valdosta.
A guestbook is included below.
Bro. Ed was originally from Lowndes County, but after serving in Vietnam, he relocated to New Jersey when he returned to the states. Driving the bus there, he met a nurse, who, as it turns out, was from Bulloch County.
Bro. Ed served in law enforcement working his way up through the department to become police director for the city of Orange Township, NJ.
He became familiar with the doctrines of grace while attending and being active in the Presbyterian Church there.
Coming home, he ran a cab company in Valdosta and pastored in the Holiness faith before retiring to Waycross. He returned the doctrines of grace and faithfully attended Comfort Chapel until his health failed.
Please pray for her his children, Edward III, Andre (Kerrie Ann) and Jason (Natalie).

Today's sermon is "A Wall of Fire Round About" from Zechariah 2:5. In today's lesson, the God speaks through the prophet Zechariah as the Jewish exiles return to Jerusalem from captivity. They find the city broken down and the temple in ruins. Yet, God says He will be a fire round about the city and eventually Jerusalem will be a place so great the walls cannot contain it. The modern day application is God puts a wall of fire round about His children and His church. He will protect the church. Those who are within are safe. The enemies may come against us, but they will be repelled by the wall of fire. I am thankful for the Lord's protection and His providence to us.

Today's sermon was "Go Forward" from Exodus 14:13-15. In the lesson Scripture, Moses has led the nation of Israel to the shore of the Red Sea. They are seemingly trapped. They can't go around, they can't become invisible, they can't fly and they can't turn back. The Egyptian Army is pursuing them. Moses commands the nation to be still, to not be afraid, to watch the Lord fight for them and to see the Lord's deliver them. Then, God tells Moses: Why are you crying to me? Move forward. God was going to provide a miraculous, supernatural parting of the waters, but the children of Israel had to move their feet. They had to "Go Forward". It is a good lesson for us all. Go forward. Don't turn back. Go forward even when there are obstacles in the way and the outcome seems impossible. God forward even when faith is all you have to go on. Let us go forward.

Comfort Chapel members and friends, We will be meeting with the contractor to discuss our upcoming building project at 6 p.m. this Thursday, September 24, at the church. Please make plans be with us and bring your ideas and input. We need everyone working together for this project.

Sunday's sermon was "Let Me Tell you About My Jesus" from John 1:1-4, John 5:23-24, John 10:27-30 and various Scriptures. The sermon was delivered through Elder Terry Herrin of the Mars Hill Church in Hoboken. Elder Herrin filled in for us in the absence of Bro. Jason, who was away on vacation. In the lesson, Elder Herrin reviewed some of the many names of the Savior and he also talked about some of the many attributes of the Lord Jesus. We thank Bro. Terry for filling in for us.

We held our quarterly union meeting at Jesup Primitive Baptist Church in Jesup this evening. Our pastor, Elder Jason Deal, delivered the message. His sermon was “Victory in Jesus" from 1 Corinthians 15:57. Thankful for this time of worship and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
