Listen now to Endings and Beginnings, 2 Kings 2:1–19 and consider how the church is called to invest faithfully in the next generation.

In 2 Kings 2:1–19, Elijah’s ministry ends and Elisha’s begins. This sermon considers biblical succession, next generation discipleship, faithful ministry, and the ongoing witness of God’s word and kingdom.

Faithfulness to God's word requires speaking truth in every season, not out of anger, but out of love and a desire for repentance

In this sermon on 1 Kings 21:17–29, Ben Smith preaches on Elijah confronting Ahab, the call to speak truth, the judgment of God, biblical repentance, and the mercy of God that desires restoration.

After fourteen years of ministry at Central Baptist Church, my time as pastor has come to an end. I have written a reflection on the Lord’s Supper, the church covenant, pastoral conscience, and trusting the good providence of God when endings are painful and unexpected. The Lord’s Supper, the Church Covenant, and a Pastor’s Conscience

A pastoral reflection on the Lord’s Supper, fencing the table, Baptist church covenants, church membership, and the responsibility of the church to administer the ordinances faithfully according to Scripture.

This week on All for the Kingdom, I preach Genesis 10 in a sermon titled “God of All Nations.” This often-overlooked chapter reminds us that God is sovereign over all people, over the efforts of man, and over the fulfillment of His redemptive will.

Listen to “God of All Nations,” a sermon on Genesis 10 from Ben Smith Sr. This message explains the Table of Nations and shows God’s sovereignty over all people, human efforts, and the fulfillment of His will.

The Tower of Babel is more than a story about a tall tower and confused languages. Genesis 11:1–9 reveals the deadly pride of man: the desire to make a name for ourselves, live apart from dependence on God, and assert our will over His.

In this sermon, I examine the pride of ability, the pride of self-sufficiency, and the pride of mastery, and call believers to reject the illusion of independence and to humble themselves before the sovereign God.
