Church Of Christ

Church Of Christ Teach the Word of God to those who want to listen Two years later the brethren moved into a rented hall.

The work of our Lord Jesus Christ began in Waycross GA in 1941 in the homes of James Gornto and Sam Gornto , brothers in the flesh as well as in the spirit. The work was partially supported by the Central Avenue church in Valdosta until 1952. In 1951, the brethren moved in to the present site and into a building of their own. Carl Harrell of Alma was largely responsible for the building erected fi

rst, giving considerable time and money. The present building was completed in 1961 with most of the work being done by the members. Radio, bulletins, newspaper articles, correspondence courses, and recorded telephone messages have been used to reach the lost with the gospel. In addition to the local work of preaching, other preachers have been partially supported. During the past years, those who have worked as preachers with this congregation are:

Erskin Belk
Jack Exum
Earl Kimbrough
JohnD Swatzell
Wayne Sullivan
Pete McKee

Painting a living room may seem simple—just roll some color on the walls, right? Not quite.

The painting process is a critical stage that determines how your space will look and how long that finish will last.

A professional approach goes beyond slapping on paint; it follows a proven method that balances technique, timing, and attention to detail.

When you understand the painting process, you’re better equipped to evaluate painters, avoid costly shortcuts, and ensure the end result reflects your vision.

Beyond Conformity

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17

Christianity teaches that real change is possible. In Christ, a person does not have to remain what he once was.

But true change is more than simply adjusting outward behavior.

The Pharisees were serious about obedience, yet Jesus said our righteousness must exceed theirs. Why? Because God is not looking for proud religious performance. He desires a heart that depends on Him.

Obedience matters. Turning from sin matters. But obedience separated from grace can feed pride, harshness, and self-trust.

The change God wants goes deeper than conformity.

To be a “new creation” means we obey as people who have been rescued, forgiven, humbled, and made new by the grace of God.

The Christian life is not less than obedience.

But it is more than conformity.

It is a life of grateful surrender to the God who changes us from within.

Throwback to a truth we all need to hear again and again... 💛

Recognize the "I'm Not Good Enough" Lie.

That lie shows up fast. It whispers when you compare yourself to others. It speaks up when fear says, "Don't try. Don't risk it. Don't speak up."

But here is the truth: God did not create you to live small.

When you catch that old thought, pause and name it. That is the first step. Then replace it with truth. "I am seen. I am valued. I am called."

That kind of thinking brings peace, confidence, and fresh purpose. One honest thought at a time, you can train your heart to stop agreeing with fear.

If this spoke to you, comment "TRUTH" below. 🙏

Some seasons ask more of us than others.

We, like many of the buildings in the downtown part of any city, grow old as the years pass. In our younger years, we fall or take a hit from work, lose a relationship, and we get over it fairly quickly and move on.

As we get older, the wear of the weather starts to show.
Solomon put it this way: (Eccl 12: 1-7)

Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years approach when you will say,
“I have no pleasure in them”;

before the sun and the light, the moon and the stars are darkened, and clouds return after the rain;

on the day that the watchmen of the house tremble, and strong men are bent over, the grinders (teeth) stop working because they are few, and those who look through windows (eyes) grow dim;

and the doors on the street are shut as the sound of the grinding mill is low (hearing), and one will arise at the sound of the bird, and all the daughters of song will sing softly.

Furthermore, people are afraid of a high place (falling) and of terrors on the road(driving); the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper drags itself along, and the caper berry is ineffective (no medicine seems to work). For man goes to his eternal home while the mourners move around in the street.

Remember your Creator before the silver cord is broken and the golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the spring is shattered and the wheel at the cistern is crushed;

then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

But, when we remember Who made us and serve Him...We are not forgotten; God is present in the middle of the process.

Ecc 12: 13-14
The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.
For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

Overwhelmed means you have more than your conscious mind can handle at that moment. Clear everything out and go to the One source that can give you the right thing to do - a faithful step. It may not be what you want but doing what is right is what is important. Consider Daniel Chapter 1.

Our Appointment With God

There is no avoiding our future appointment to be judged by the God who made us.

“Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it.”
— Ecclesiastes 12:7

Solomon brings life down to its final earthly moment with that verse.

It reminds us of two truths we should never forget:

We are creatures.

And we are accountable.

Mothers are special because they give so much of themselves in ways that often go unnoticed.

From the first days of life, a mother’s love is one of the earliest pictures we see of care, sacrifice, patience, and protection. She comforts, teaches, corrects, encourages, and often carries burdens quietly so others can stand stronger.

Not every mother is perfect, and not every Mother’s Day is easy for every heart. But the role of a faithful mother is worthy of honor. Scripture reminds us, “Her children rise up and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28).

Today, we thank God for mothers — for their tenderness, their strength, their prayers, their work, and their love.

May we honor them not only with words today, but with gratitude, respect, and kindness every day.

Happy Mother’s Day.

What if the hardest moments in life aren’t random… but revealing what we truly trust?

The ten plagues in Exodus weren’t just acts of judgment—they were a direct challenge to everything Egypt depended on: their economy, their health, their security, even their sense of control.

One by one, God showed that what they trusted most could not hold.

And if we’re honest… we’re not so different.

We may not rely on the Nile or Pharaoh, but we lean on things we can see:
• our income
• our health
• our plans
• our ability to stay in control

Here’s the truth the plagues teach us:

Whatever we trust more than God will eventually be shaken.

But there’s also hope in the story.

God made a distinction between those who trusted Him and those who didn’t. And in the final moment, protection didn’t come from strength or effort—but from trusting what God provided.

“When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” (Exodus 12:13)

Life still has its storms. Things still shake.

So the question isn’t if things will be shaken…

The question is: What are you standing on when they are?

Take a moment today and reflect:
What do I rely on most when life feels uncertain?

👇 I’d love to hear your thoughts:
What is one thing God has used in your life to remind you to trust Him more?

Some plans fail not because we lack desire, but because we try to carry everything alone. Proverbs 15:22 reminds us that wise counsel is one of God’s gifts for growth, direction, and steadiness. The right mentor will not live your life for you — but they may help you see the path more clearly.
