The strangest message this morning. So strange that I had to grab my phone to type as it was downloading. I am copying and pasting for someone else who needs this.

‘This is your ‘DO YOU’ season. I’ve watched you day after day—week after week—month after month—year after year make sacrifices to ensure that others have a good life. YOUR blessings were seeing OTHERS do well. You were faithful to mourning when others mourned and rejoicing when others rejoiced. You were oblivious to the fact that you didn’t receive the same. You were too busy looking outward and not inward.

You have constantly been saying that when William’s eyes were closed, yours were opened. You were his priority. You are no longer anyone’s priority. That’s not to say that it’s bad because your loved ones learned from you and him. You remain A priority but you are not anyone’s THE priority. And that’s okay because in this season, in the absence of William, you will begin to make you THE priority.

You have preached to others the airplane rule of putting your mask on first when there’s no oxygen in the cabin so that they are able to assist others. Now it’s time to practice what you preach.

I have so many blessings in store for you and I have blessed you to see the beginning of them unfold already. You haven’t seen anything yet. I believe that you have finally learned that the only ONE capable of laying His life down for others was My Son. Please don’t think more highly of yourself than you ought.

Regular long posts are no longer you because God reminded you that faith comes by hearing but this message right here had a purpose. The purpose is that it is to be sent out because there is someone who needs to copy and paste this message on their hearts.”

Well, I guess He told me!

Who can argue with statistics?

One of the most frequently referenced studies (a 2023 U.S. sociological survey) found:
About 27%–33% of U.S. adults have experienced some form of religious trauma at some point in their lives
If you include broader symptoms, it rises to about 37%
Around 10%–15% are currently dealing with significant trauma symptoms
Some estimates suggest up to 20% (1 in 5 adults) may currently experience notable effects
👉 So a fair, evidence-based takeaway is:
Roughly 1 in 3 people have had some form of harmful or damaging religious experience, though not all would describe themselves as “emotionally damaged.”
Also important:
These numbers vary depending on how “trauma” is defined (clinical trauma vs. emotional hurt vs. negative experiences).
Not all churches or religious environments cause harm—many people report positive, life-giving experiences as well.
🧠 Why people feel emotionally harmed by the church
This is where things get more nuanced. Research and clinical observations point to a few recurring patterns:
1. Authoritarian or controlling environments
When leadership discourages questioning or demands absolute obedience, people can lose a sense of personal identity or autonomy.
2. Shame-based teaching
Heavy emphasis on sin, unworthiness, or fear (hell, punishment, rejection) can lead to:
Chronic guilt
Low self-worth
Anxiety
3. Spiritual abuse or misuse of power
This includes:
Manipulation using scripture
Leadership misconduct (financial, emotional, or sexual)
Silencing people who speak up
4. Exclusion or rejection
Certain groups—especially women in some settings or LGBTQ individuals—report higher rates of harm when they feel condemned or rejected
5. Betrayal trauma
When a trusted spiritual community fails someone, the damage can feel deeper than other types of hurt because it involves:
Faith
Identity
Belonging
6. Lack of accountability
Institutions that protect leadership over people can intensify the damage.
⚖️ A grounded perspective
It’s easy to swing to extremes here—either “the church is harmful” or “people are just sensitive.” Reality sits in the middle:
Some people are deeply hurt—and the data shows it’s not rare
Some people thrive spiritually and emotionally in church
Often, the difference comes down to leadership, culture, and theology in practice

Hey sis, you better walk into that room like God sent you.
Not timid. Not questioning. Not shrinking back.

You’re not there by accident… you’re there on assignment.

God didn’t anoint you to hide, He anointed you to stand.
To speak. To carry His presence into places that need light.

Stop second-guessing what Heaven already confirmed.

When you walk in, walk with authority.
When you speak, speak with conviction.
When you show up, show up as a daughter who knows who sent her.

Because you’re not just entering a room… you’re shifting atmospheres.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because He has anointed me…” Luke 4:18

and

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power, love, and a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

Sis, you don’t need permission. You already have His presence.
