The Ferris Heights United Methodist Church was organized in October 1937 by the consolidation of the Falls Church and the Dixon’s Chapel Church. Membership from Ike, Reagor Springs, Sterrett, Colliers Chapel and Buena Vista Methodist Churches came within the next few years. The first building was constructed from materials salvaged from the Falls Church on the corner at Center and Du

The first Ferris Heights Church building was dedicated by Bishop Boaz, January 2, 1938. The first revival was held by Rev Oran Stephens June 23-July 3, 1938. Quay Parmer was appointed to the Waxahachie Circuit in November 1938. Membership doubled while Rev. Parmer was at Ferris Heights. Construction on the first parsonage and first educational building adjoining the auditorium was begun in June 1941. Materials salvaged from the Reagor Springs Methodist Church was used in the project. Pews from the Ike Church were placed in the Sanctuary and pews from the Falls Church were being used in the educational building. Also during 1941, the Sterrett Church was sold and some of the furniture was given to Ferris Heights. Parmer resigned to accept a chaplaincy in the US Army in July 1941. Today we heard the message:

“Mercy Came to the Table”
Matthew 9:9–13, 18–26

Jesus shows us that mercy is not distant. Mercy comes near. Mercy sits at the table. Mercy reaches out. Mercy lifts up what others have given up on.

Here are three questions to carry with you this week:

1. Where do I need to receive the mercy of Jesus?

Where have I been trying to prove I am good enough?
What wound have I been carrying quietly?
What part of my life needs healing, forgiveness, or restoration?
Am I willing to let Jesus come close?
2. Who have I been tempted to count out?

Who do I find easy to judge?
Who have I kept at a distance?
Where might Jesus be asking me to show compassion instead of criticism?
How can I make room at the table for someone else?
3. How can I become a person of mercy this week?

Who needs encouragement from me?
Who needs a phone call, a prayer, or a kind word?
Where can I choose grace instead of harshness?
How can our church reflect the mercy of Jesus more clearly?
May we go into this week remembering that Jesus still calls, welcomes, heals, and restores.

June 7th 2026

06/05/2026

Tomorrow in worship, we will look at Matthew 9 and the mercy of Jesus.

The same Jesus who called Matthew from the tax booth still calls us.
The same Jesus who welcomed sinners to the table still welcomes us.
The same Jesus who healed the suffering woman still reaches toward us.
The same Jesus who raised the little girl still speaks life where hope feels gone.

Come ready to worship.
Come ready to receive mercy.
Come ready to be sent out as people of mercy.

Sunday Worship — Ferris Heights United Methodist Church

06/05/2026

Have you ever felt counted out, overlooked, worn down, or too far gone?

Matthew 9 reminds us that Jesus does not move away from broken people. Jesus moves toward them.

He calls the outsider.
He welcomes the sinner.
He heals the wounded.
He restores life where others have given up.

This Sunday we will gather around the mercy of Christ and remember that grace is not something we earn. It is something we receive.

Sermon: “Mercy Came to the Table”

06/04/2026

This Sunday we will hear Jesus say, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.”

That one sentence opens the door to the heart of the Gospel. Jesus does not wait for people to become perfect before He comes near. He calls Matthew while Matthew is still sitting at the tax booth. He welcomes sinners to the table. He heals the woman who has suffered for years. He raises what others thought was already lost.

Join us this Sunday as we worship around the message:

Love Well
Romans 12

05/29/2026

Romans 12 does not describe shallow love.

It describes patient love. Faithful love. Honest love. Humble love.

This Sunday we’ll ask:
What does it actually look like to love people well?

Join us Sunday at 10:00 AM at Ferris Heights UMC.

Sunday 11:05 AM Post-Service

This morning we reflected on what it means to love genuinely and recognize the work of God in one another.

Questions to reflect on this week:

Where have I seen someone quietly love others well?

Who in my life needs encouragement, patience, or compassion right now?

What would change if our church became deeply known for genuine love?

05/28/2026

Sometimes God is doing something long before we fully recognize it.

This Sunday we’ll look at the way Mary and Elizabeth recognized the presence of God in one another and how Romans 12 calls us to love genuinely and live differently.

Join us Sunday at 10:00 AM at Ferris Heights UMC.

05/24/2026

Good Morning

Unfortunately, we will not be live today, but we will post our scholarship recipients later this week. We hope you all have a great weekend.

05/17/2026

Join us this Sunday as we hear Jesus’ command to love one another.

In John 13, Jesus shows us love with a towel and a basin, then tells us that the world will know we are his disciples by our love.

Questions to consider:

What from Chris’s sermon do you feel the Holy Spirit nudging you towards?
What does bold love look like in everyday life? What does it look like at Ferris?
Where is Jesus asking me to lay down pride and pick up the towel? Who do you see at Ferris picking up the towel and loving others well?
How can our church be known by love?
