This Sunday was Sons of Allen Sunday! These are truly men of integrity. The worship leader was Bro. Thornton Vaughn, the morning invocation was led by Bro. Robert Turner Jr. The SOA Choir, directed by Sis. Winona Gardner, sang and the alter call was led by Bro. Charles Turner. The speaker was Bro. Victor M. Gardner, Exhorter. The scripture was from Matt. 7:13-14. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” NIV.
The message was entitled, “Is there a Fork in the Road?” What an amazing worship experience!

On February 22nd we had our annual Black History Program. Our YPD had a joint program with Waverly United Methodist Church youth. They led the worship service, the youth choir sang, and gave black history highlights. We also had news a mock news cast that highlighted the importance of black history and showed understanding that it is everyone’s history. We also had a guest speaker Sis. Chelsea Frederick who gave a message about her knowledge of the Adinkra Symbols of the Akan people of Ghana. These symbols that are often seen in iron work, such as gates, have many meanings that allowed Slaves and oppressed African Americans to have hope when seen, through the struggle. After, we were met with a meal provided by Kelley Rawlings Lynn and played Black History Family Feud. It was a wonderful day.

On Saturday, our YPD traveled to Martin Chapel to participate in their Christmas program. We would like to thank Rev. Deshnell Cobbin and members for the gifts and outreach to the community.

On yesterday, the YPD and Sunday School department had their Christmas program. The theme was “One Church, One Story”. And what a story to tell! Many elements in the program were great reminders of what Jesus really means to us. They began the program with singing "10,000 Reasons" while performing in American Sign Language. Next, the primary class displayed the may names of Jesus with beautiful ornaments on a treee. They let their light shine with lanterns with “Shine Your Light”. And then the Inspirational Choir and Sons of Allen choir sang. “Emmanuel” and “Amen”. The young ladies danced beautifully to “Angels we have heard on High”. The YPD director Sis. Michaela Frederick danced to “Christmas Star”. And to close the show, Sis. Donna Shields directed a play entitled “The Elf who Lost Christmas”. Everyone did a wonderful job and celebrated the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!
