The facility includes fifty single rooms, each with a private bath.

Providing directed Catholic retreats giving individuals a place of quiet recollection to experience the presence of God, with opportunities for silence, prayer, adoration and the Sacraments. For more than 50 years, Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House provides a peaceful atmosphere of prayer and recollection, situated on a spacious acreage near Waverly, Nebraska. Each retreat includes meditations by the retreat master, and opportunities for silence, prayer, adoration and the Sacraments. Retreats typically begin with at 8:00 PM with Mass on Friday evening, and end with Mass on Sunday followed by lunch.

Drawing from our theme, “He Has Done Great Things,” Sister will invite us to reflect on how easily we underestimate what the Lord has done and can still do for us. She will also explore the importance of recognizing His gifts with gratitude and following Mary’s example by boldly sharing what God has done in our lives.

World Youth Day is coming to Seoul in 2027!
Young adults ages 16–35 are invited to join the Diocese of Lincoln for a pilgrimage to South Korea from July 28–August 10. The experience will include five days immersed in local parish life and Korean culture, followed by seven days of World Youth Day events in Seoul, including catechesis, youth festivals and ceremonies with the Pope.
Fr. Gary Coulter and Thomas Haberman will help lead the pilgrimage alongside JMJ Pilgrimages.

This past weekend, retreatants gathered at Our Lady of Good Counsel for the Opus Angelorum Retreat—a time of prayer, silence and reflection on the presence and mission of the holy angels.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and to those who helped make the retreat possible. May we continue to grow in trust in God’s providence and remain attentive to the guidance and protection of the holy angels.

Last week, retreatants stepped away from the busyness of everyday life for a Desert Day at Our Lady of Good Counsel.

The day included time for prayer and reflection, Mass and Adoration, along with a talk on St. Monica and St. Augustine and their powerful story of perseverance, conversion and prayer.

We were also grateful to welcome our largest Desert Day gathering yet! It was wonderful to see so many people take time away to be with the Lord.

Sometimes, a day apart is exactly what we need to make room for God.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! Our next Desert Day is October 7. Come for a full day or just half the day and spend some quiet time with the Lord.

Recently, Our Lady of Good Counsel held a reception to honor and remember two beloved members of the Good Counsel community who have passed away: Sr. Veronica Volkmer and Joan Meyer.
Sr. Veronica was a beloved volunteer at the Retreat House, and Joan was a devoted retreatant, faithfully making her annual retreat even at the age of 88! It was a blessing to hear the wonderful stories and memories shared by their family and friends.
Eternal Rest grant unto Sr. Veronica and Joan.

Recently, Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House was blessed to celebrate the 20-year work anniversary of our kitchen manager Tra My Tran. Tra My joined the Retreat House right after graduating from the Culinary Institute at Southeast Community College.
She has been a wonderful asset for the past twenty years, providing excellent food, diversifying the menu for the retreatants and catering as well as showcasing her impeccable organizational skills where she excels at any challenge put before her.
We appreciate you so much Tra My, thank you for your twenty years of service! God Bless!
