That's a wrap!! We finished our "Mission 2026" at JOMM in Glendale this morning. Just One More Ministry is a food bank that actually "rescues" food from going into landfills.

JOMM partners with over 75 churches, restaurants, and non-profit organizations to get food to the homeless, veterans, elderly, and battered women and children. Their warehouse is HUGE....and absolutely full of food to be distributed.

We spent time sorting huge crates (known as gaylords) of frozen and refridgerated food for more efficient distribution. We were also able to connect with the JOMM staff to learn more about their mission and philosophy, which is quite inspiring.

Thanks again for the prayers, love, and support throughout our trip!

Our last full day together as a Mission Crew, and some great times were had! After breakfast, we cleaned the Mt. Morris lodge where we stayed and then got on the road back to Wauwatosa. We stopped for lunch at Chick-fil-A, dropped our bags at church, and caravaned down to St. Vincent's for an afternoon and early evening of service.

The tasks and projects were varied and all so important....sweeping and mopping the floor, setting up tables and chairs for dinner, preparing silverware, and organizing Father's Day "goodie bags" to be handed out this weekend. We also had a handful of "sous chefs" slicing and dicing green peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, and potatoes. After learning more about St. Vincent's mission and outreach services, we served dinner, poured drinks, and connected with those who came for a warm, nutritious meal.

It was wonderful giving back in our own community, especially for an organization that First Church supports on a monthly basis with bagged lunches.

Day 2 at Mt. Morris is over and we worked really hard!! We spent the morning rejuvenating the prayer labyrinth with fresh gravel....it was a lot of heavy lifting and raking, but it turned out beautifully. When we finished, our crew walked the labyrinth and then had lunch.

The rain came in the early afternoon, but after it stopped, our crew split into three groups to put the final touches on the labyrinth, rake a woodsy part of the camp, and clean the hiking trails. It was another productive day, and Mt. Morris showed their appreciation by buying us pizza from Cristiano's for dinner.

Looking forward to a good night's sleep, cleaning Sandhill in the morning, and hitting the road back to Tosa for a few local mission projects.

Our Mission Team was commissioned during Worship yesterday, and got on the road to Mt. Morris bright and early this morning. We arrived, unloaded our stuff, and did a couple of ice breakers with the team from Ozaukee Congregational Church. After a tour of the camp that allowed us to see our projects, we had lunch and then got to work. Our crew prepared and painted a handful of firewood boxes and a bunch of picnic tables, weeded the prayer labyrinth, and painted lines in the parking lot.

There was time in the pool late this afternoon, followed by tacos for dinner, a fun large group game, and devotions and singing around the campfire (and s'mores!).

Everything looks awesome, and the Mt. Morris staff is so pleased with our work. We look forward to our projects tomorrow. :)

Join us for worship this Sunday at 10am. We will be blessing and praying for our Youth Mission Team before they embark to be the hands and feet of Jesus at Mt. Morris Camp and then locally for St. Vincent and Just One More Ministry (JOMM) next week. Rev. Julie Sheridan-Smith will preach from Luke 10: 1-11. We'll save a seat for you!

We had an INCREDIBLE Children & Youth Sunday yesterday! It was an awesome service that celebrated the gifts and talents of our kids....from our 4-year-olds to our high school seniors. Our youth were in the spotlight as musicians, liturgists, ushers, and singers. Each Sunday School class offered a presentation with a theme of "Following in the Footstep of Jesus" and a few of our high schoolers offered their personal thoughts of how they can follow in Jesus' footsteps as well. We honored our graduating seniors, our amazing Sunday School teachers, and our FCC Scholarship recipients.

The energy was high throughout the service, and there were smiles on the faces of the children up front and our members in the pews. Afterward, we had our annual Ice Cream Social....a perfect ending to a wonderful morning at church. :)
